E-mail and ntlworld.com problems
At the moment I cannot access pop.ntlworld.com at all, and while I can connect to the smtp servers - they are responding extremely slowly once connected.
Edit: In fact smtp looks to have died completely now as well. |

For the last six months my email is down every few days. Have stopped using the account now. Not worth the trouble.

for those that don't know the web address for service status away from ntlworld.com website here it is.
http://www.ntl-isp.ntl.com/ServiceStatus/ You will notice the fault reported for broadband customers for email as well as NTLWORLD.COM, there also seems to be some ongoing maintenance. |

The last time I had cause to call customer service, I politly asked to be put through to someone in England who understood what they were talking about, and hey presto I got through to someone in England, who knew nothing of what he was talking about, only goes to show that NTL employ technical incompetents on 2 continents.
And still no Email........ |

I'm connecting to the email servers okay now - but there was no email to download which is quite remarkable as I normally get best part of 100 emails a day on my NTL addresses and I haven't been able to access them since Wednesday !

It came up, it went down.
Not a lot of point moaning about TS though is there? What can they do given this would appear to be a national fault and not to do with individual accounts? :confused: I've not bother calling. |

All mine are getting through if somewhat slowly and with claims of "unable to connect to ntlworld.com" by my e-mail? :shrug: But no NTL Home page!

I can send no probs through smtp.ntlworld.com, don't have an ntl email to POP3 test though.

It's being worked on - there's a sev.1 case open with Cisco. :Yikes:
The problem is coming and going in waves - so sometimes it will seem fine, others it'll be.... problematic. The ntlworld homepage problem is linked to this also. |

According to the service status page, accessing ntlworld.com was resolved over 12 hours ago!
Whatever they thought they had done to resolve the problem obviously didn't work. At this moment in time, the only problem, according to the service status page, is with email, even though I still can't get on to ntlworld.com. |

What's happening?
I'm in Detroit and had great difficulty getting my e-mails or even accessing the service status page to try and find out what is going on for the last few days. Can you ask for compensation in a prolonged situation? |

I asked a former NTL director if there was any link between everything going tits up and network upgrades. He sniggered and agreed. This was a man who could not wait to get the hell out of NTL and was all but begging me to play down his shameful past when publicising his appointment elsewhere!!

This is the same sodding problem that's been plaguing us for days and the couple of hours you suggest it was working problem - guess what, wrong! absolutely ridiculous no email again not even webmail. When it was apparently fixed last time all of my emails had disappeared, i know they should have been there. I had to ring around people to check they had been sent, but i did not receive them god alone knows where they are now. :mad: :mad:

Wierd thing is I have always been able to connect to CF but the NTL homepage has been a rare sighting. Whereas although I get my e-mails eventually a pop up says "unable to connect to Pop.ntlworld.com" or similar. :shrug:

Gave up with NTL for my email inbox some time ago. However, this problem has also killed my email sending, so I've now configured IIS to send SMTP from my machine. This appears to be working okay.
So it's a :redcard: to NTL email servers completely now! |

well im connecting to the mail server now.. but everyone of my accoounts is saying ERR username/password incorrect. :mad:
I can send outgoing mail but anything i send to one of my NTL accounts from hotmail bounces back saying user doesnt exist!! Can't logon to webmail either or the account management thing on ntlworld, I hope they haven't deleted all my accounts. |

Our email wasn't working from Friday morning until yesterday (Saturday) evening (about 10pm?) It was still working this morning but stopped working again an hour or so...

I reckon they cannot handle all the traffic so they are switching on and off different areas , you just have to work out when yours is on. Cisco? I thought he was spaced out on DS9 in the alpha quadrant.

I suppose it is catch 22. The system not working so everything is backing up which puts more load on the system when it is working, which brings it down again.

My ntl e-mail works occasionally and sporadically over the last 3 days. Sometimes it's fine, and at others, their servers just time out. I suspect accesses are being, err, 'rationed'. |

Am I to assume that I have a sepearate problem, since everyone of my NTL email accounts is saying ERR- username/password incorrect? or do you think its related to the ongoing problems? No one else has mentioned this error, The POP3 server is up for me just not accepting my login & password.
