From the nearest tree.

Nah I would be much much worse, if there was no doubt the person arrested did it, I would lock them in a room, with a starved rat, and tie the criminal up so they cant move.

And leave them there.

I remember a thread running on here once with people saying crime was falling in the UK....

Hmmm where?? I know crimes falling in the area of my backyard not being fouled in by another dog?

That is below sick, it is undefendable.

The truely sad part is this doesn't shock me anymore. Murders so horrific, so disgusting have become so common, you've almost become numb to it. :(

It's a frightening world we live in nowadays and particularly as I live alone I am very wary of even answering the door and always go everywhere in my car, I'll quite happily go on a night out driving as I know I can get myself safely home.........

I'm struck by how many females seem to be murdered, maybe it's me but it seems more frequent than males. Blokes/boys usually seem to be involved in a fight which escalates out of control, they don't seem to get abducated and then murdered. It appears bloke on bloke murder is spontanous, bloke on woman murder seems premediated and thats a terrifying thought........

Off topic but In my last job there was a workerwhos son was murdered. you may have seen it in the news & Crimewatch (south, South east).

He was walking home to his Pregnant wife before christmas, when he was jumped by a gang and had petrol was poured over him and lit he died several days later.

Hi Mum who I worked with hair went white almost over night.

The *******s who did this are still at large, and people know who did this but are to scared to come foreward.

I may be OTT here but a tv show to put these **** in and watch the ****ers burn would make my bloody day.

Govermental polictics all that cockabull**** is NOT flaming working.

If it is working then I ask those who say it does work, Howcome so many victims or witnesses who are so scared to tell they don't, and live in fear. You go tell them that this system, which is more a cockup then the titanic is working.

We have no deterant for these levels of crime, and as such it will only get worse.

As Punky says, it's horrible, but not so shocking any more. And that's the state this country is in.

Still, we are often assured that crime is falling; and anyway, many years ago that nice Mr. Blair said he would be "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime"...

PS. Saxo, what I've pointed out is that crime generally is falling, with the notable exception of violent crime. But you hangers and floggers ( ;) ) out there won't even concede that!!

It would be the same as saying that health levels are "generally" improving... but the number of AIDS sufferers is increasing. People hear about crimes like this, and they are shocked/horrified/numbed. Then when it's pointed out that crime is "generally" falling, that seems like cold comfort.

And it's a sad day when something like this is deemed so minor that you feel it's not worthy of a thread.

I have to say, that as an attitude towards violent crime, that stinks. "It's boring". Oh well, sorry if brutal murders and mutilation bores you, but (and I think I speak for the majority here), it makes me sick that there are people who think that crime "in general" is reducing, whilst violent crime isn't, and that's something commendable?

OK, I'm not saying violent crime is boring nor unimportant. I'm saying posting threads about specific violent crime is boring. Once you've said it's shocking, terrible, lock them up, hang them, castrate them what else is there to say? Nowt, as this thread has amply proven. It's totally, utterly pointless. And therefore boring.

And no the fact that violent crime is rising is certainly not commendable. The fact that other crime undoubtedly is, is commendable (though tabloid readers struggle to accept this because they are fed a daily dose of crime outrage; just press the right buttons, much like this thread). But we need to understand why violent crime is increasing rather than just posting the same old lazy, kneejerk, banal 'what's happening to this country?' tosh.

So, I ask again - is there anything new to say that hasn't been said on all the very many other threads of this ilk?

Just my opinion of course. And I only entered this thread because my name was mentioned in despatches, which will be your faultt I believe Punky ;) :)

Re: sick murder in london

I see. So, because t's boring we shouldn't bother mentioning it. And the press shouldn't even put it in the papers. Or rather the tabloids shouldn't, because the real papers wouldn't do such a thing.

I think you need to look at both of your shoulders, and remove the tabloid chip. The issue under discussion here is about a horrific crime, and people are wondering why it is happening in our society, and what is being done/will be done about it; and all you do is decide it's "boring" and drag out the tired old rhetoric about crime falling "in general" and how tabloid readers think exactly what the editors want them to think.

I repeat, is there anything new to say that hasn't been said on other threads about similarly horrific crimes. Go on, take up the challenge and tell me.

Crime IS falling generally. Violent crime IS NOT and that is indeed worrying.

Oh I see, if you can't say anything that Andyl hasn't heard before, then don't bother posting... is that the angle here?

Well how about this: other people who also use this forum might want to discuss this particular crime, and/or violent crime "in general". Now you might not like that, but then you don't have to. If it bores you, nobody is forcing you to read it. And if a teenage girl being mutilated shocks others, but bores you, then feel free to spout about it not being an issue, as crime is falling "in general".

I didn't see any real on-topic opening discussion. I saw a fair bit of nothing and then ironic ranting.
What is the point in starting a thread with no premise or guidelines for a decent discussion other than the solitary headline or a newslink to the BBC? What you rapidly get is the same old free-for-all. Andyl is right, it rarely turns into an intelligent discussion and it is VERY BORING. It is why I rarely visit these forums anymore.

You see, none of you know any details of the story so all most of you end up doing do is trying to out-sick each other as to how you'd personally deal with the perpetrator of the crime. When you all run out of your public outporings of disgust (which usually happens well within the first page or two) and the thread is about to die then we get the usual baiting posts.
I'm sick of it and I think some of you need to grow up.

Goodbye, again.

Well, thanks for that intelligent and informative post.

You also miss the obvious point here: perhaps other people want to discuss the issue, regardless of whether it bores you or others. Or is that irrelevant?

Are you sure this hasn't been posted before? ;)

I am in favour of the death penalty, for certain types of crime. There are a lot of reasoned arguments against it, but on balance I believe these can be overcome. IMO this crime would seem to be worthy of it, but I would reserve judgement on that until the full facts are known. But I do feel for example that Ian Huntlet should have been hanged.

Anyway, that's all OT.

You mis the point, repeatedly, that all this has been said before. You have yet to demonstrate there is something new to add. Now, were you to take up the previously issued challenge we might have a thread.

And as I said before, I only entered the fray because my name was brought up. I responded with what, frankly, and even if I say so myself, was ythe most interesting point yet aired. Arrogant? Yes. True? Possibly.

Andy, I enter these boards to discuss, learn, share opinions, and do many other things; however, I am not here to respond to any challenge that you deem to issue from your pedestal.

Now, what's new for me is to hear opinions of others; like them or loathe them, it's all interesting to me.

By the way, you don't have the final say on whether "we have a thread".
