Most of the bus drivers around here smoke whilst driving. Nothing new.

If only more motorists took action against like this against abusive bus/taxi/van/lorry drivers, the road would be a much safer place IMO :)

Now, now, don't go tarring them all with the same brush - one of the safest most courteous drivers I know is a bus driver :disturbd:
Next you'll be saying all women drivers are crap :Sprint:

There is a common perception by most bus/taxi/van/lorry drivers etc that because they do more driving than your average person that they are somehow better at it ("It's my job to drive, I've been doing it for 15 years, never had an accident therefore I'm obviously a good driver") which is why they'll often say things like "In this job you see it all" when it comes to the bad driving of others.

Of course not all 'professional' drivers are like this but those who are....they need to be reported wherever possible. No wonder so many dislike the "How's my driving" signs on their vehicles.

Re: Bus rage

Many bus drivers do not just believe they are great drivers, some have some kind of god complex with the vehicle they are driving, one time i had pulled into the layby (no it wasnt a bus stop), in front of the shop I used to work at and put the locks into the shutters, I got back into my car, the lights ahead was red and the traffic que was just a couple of cars space ahead of me, a bus had pulled up behind me and I had edged my nose out a fraction, I looked at the bus driver and held my arms up in a shrug like manner awaiting his indication of wether he was going to permit me to go or have to wait, the response i got was for him to nudge my rear offside wing with his near side corner. I followed him to the next stop and asked he call out the inspector, to which followed a whole load of verbal abuse from the driver also accusing me of provocation with my actions from my driving position. At the end of the day it was just going to be my word against his, even though my brother was also a passenger in my car, his being a witness would count for little as a court will see it as bias witness anyway. I ended up telling him what I thought of him and left. I had to either live with the damage or get it sorted myself. Bus drivers are almost impossible to get damages from and thats where the real problem lies because they know it. Same with many other self insured firms like the post office.

I use buses twice a day, 5 days/week, some of them are very courteous, some are just normal drivers, and some are complete w***ers, it seems to vary from company to company, with Finglands drivers being the absolute worst.

We seem to have 2 sorts of bus drivers in Bromley, the ones who drive so slowly that you actually consider getting off the bus bcos it might be quicker to wait for another one to come along https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2005/10/27.gif and the ones that drive real fast, occasionally not stopping even when someone is holding their arm out for the bus ..they're my fave ones https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2005/10/3.gif

I HATE catching buses..Everyone is usually so impatient, passengers and driver alike. When I was young it was because I suffered from very bad motion sickness. :(

Mind when you do get a good natured bus driver it lifts the mood of the bus passengers and what is a tedious method of travel becomes easier to bear. :tu:

Re: Bus rage

It's well worth reading the comments posted on that story, as apparently, both the bus driver and the woman who took the photo have contributed:

http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/me...75590&count=50

The woman has got all uppity at someone insinuating that her husband may be an arrogant 'I-own-the-road' type, by virtue of being an Audi TT driver. Not that that thought crossed anyone else's mind, of course! ;) :D :erm:

The buis driver's take on it (if the post is genuinely from him) is interesting:

Quote:

I am the bus driver in question and would like to put my side of the story across, The Audi driver was beeping me when i was letting customers on the bus therefore i was unable to move the bus at this time then when i was moving away from the stop he came right up close behind me and started beeping again, himself shouting and making hand signals towards me at the same time trying to overtake, i appreciate i may have gone over the top and did lose my rag but i will no doubt be due discipline

Like i said two sides to every story!! It looked shocking the photo on the front of the Manchester Evening but there was no dirvers side and that made me wonder if the Audi driver provoked a response to get a picture like that!!

Found this comment funny.... [by a former bus driver]

As a bus driver i saw myself as a glorified bin-man, exept the rubbish got on and off itself!
