Not for the faint hearted.

Alas poor Nano who's name goes to science.

Yikes :Yikes:

Well they do seem pretty resistant to the odd bump, drop, being run over.

I've dropped my sony k750i a few times and my O2 XDA got dropped and kicked along concrete on more than one occasion and it worked faultlessly.

Well that review on the Nano has tempted me enough to ask gf for one for Xmas.

Although with me wanting my £199 hifi soon.... time to get the old puppy dog eyes out :D

Wow it takes some punishment there, Id still not have one as simply I dont like the apple software. Love the look of the device though, just the software which lets it down.

Thanks

I really wish Apple made a version of that with removable SD card storage. How cool would that be? Should be possible to do it with the same thickness.

They could make it smaller. They could blow the hdd out totally and just use 2 gig sd cards instead(I know there expensive but not for long) Solid state memory instead of a disk would mean longer battery life and no spinning lumps of metal
Theres cheap sd card mp3 players out there argos has one for the princely sum of £20 http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...clickfrom=name

Now that seems like a very good idea.
I'd definately buy one in that case, it would really improove speed and battery life.
At the moment I'm happy with my 3G Ipod. Until that dies, I'l stick with it.

The iPod Nano doesn't have a hard drive. That's why it's so thin. Only the standard iPods come with a HDD and I think it'll be some time before they are able to replace the 60GB HDD with a solid state chip.

LOL !

I'll stick to my 20gig 4th Gen one until it does. Might get a nano or shuffle for the missus though - depends if I can work out that there will be no impact on each others XP account.

Re: I-Pod Nano Stress Test

Which would be better as my first I-Pod the Nano or hunting down a cheaper mini?

Stephen 13-09-2005 17:26

Re: I-Pod Nano Stress Test

I would probably still go for the mini as it can still be sync'd using firewire where as the Nano is USB only. Apart from that I would get the nano as it looks amazing.

Also you can get a 6GB mini for the price of a 4GB Nano.

Worth noting that thats giga bit not giga byte meaning that each chip effectivly has 2GB storage. Not that thats a small amount at all.

You make want to hold off on those impuse purchases at the moment, it may not be all its 'cracked' up to be yet
You may prefer to wait for the MKII

Argos do an MP3 player for £20 that uses SD cards.
As for the nano, isn't that the one that gets scratched by the wind?

I don't understand how that can be, given the extensive testing undertaken in the orginal link at the top of this thread!

BBC are reporting the 'problem' now as well:

We are already there in terms of minature hard drives, remember Hitachi's Mikey and Slim? http://www.mobilewhack.com/reviews/h...ll_phones.html

60gb in a 1.8" drive is a real achievement imo when compared with what we have now.
