Channel 5
The picture is crap this morning - Ghosting and teletext is available, which makes me thinks they're using an analogue signal instead of digital after yesterday's problems??

Re: Channel 5

Re: Channel 5
Off here all day (South Manchester). Not tried a reboot, though.

Re: Channel 5
You cant run a digital STB off a analog feed!Because of the lightning the other day,we've been having problems all over the place.More likely a series of what we call outages.

Re: Channel 5
We had problems with Channel 5 also the other day where it was black right through one of those dodgy soaps that my partner and kids watch :p
Needless to say, I didn't mind it not working... but they weren't pleased! It's fine now though. |
Re: Channel 5
Can a NTL Tech please explain the halo or ghosting on the picture then??

Re: Channel 5
Mines back working now too

Re: Channel 5
Concerning the five issue, I sure can get teletext and I'm on DIGITAL! Never used to until the outage last Thursday, which affected 5, Eurosport and a couple of radio channels. As I've said, the down side is that it looks like its constantly a 4:3 picture, anologue signal and has ghosting, halos / double vision.
No teletext for BBC 1, 2, ITV1 and Channel 4 though. |

Re: Channel 5
No CH5 through NTL Samsung box...No probs with analogue roof arial..
Winchester/Soton area...Off for last 2hrs... |
Re: Channel 5
No C5 in Poole either.
To be honest, it's pretty bad that it seems to have been affecting all Bromley areas for several days now, considering that it's one of the "big name" channels. |
Re: Channel 5
reset my box last night and channel 5 appeared ???

Re: Channel 5
I am in London and have been having the channel 5 problems too. Spoke to a nice lady in customer services about it today and she explained that there was an "outage" last week. She also went on to say that it had been fixed and must be a local problem in my area. I said this was unlikely as I read on several forums that this problem is affecting people over the whole country. I was offered an engineer to come out and look at my cabling, but I declined and said perhaps someone at ntl HQ should look at the cabling there....I didn't get a response to that comment.
Can anyone at ntl explain what's going on and when it will be fixed as customer services say its been "sorted"? It is riduculous that a major channel such as this has been affected for so long and all ntl can say is either its been fixed or the problem is at our end. PS: This is affecting several other channels which are not in widescreen and all look like analogue pictures to me. |
Re: Channel 5
Well Rob2005. It's still the same this morning on five (not widescreen and anologue type picture and ghosting). Not noticed it on any other channels though. I'm not going to ring them (ntl), just have to put up with it until someone in ntl land realises their mistake.

Re: Channel 5
Mine went missing yesterday, but a quick reboot today has brought it back.

Re: Channel 5
The fault I had with 5 has now been fixed. It was affecting Customers on the Bromley franchise. As I suspected NTL were indeed using an anologue feed during the fault, because of a problem with the Digital version.....Shame I've lost teletext though.

Re: Channel 5
Don't believe it has returned to anologue again.
