Well, bearing mind the fact that the Halifax are evil, you'll probably get charged their standard charge for not having enough money in the account (normally about 30 quid).

Re: How long do i have

We are trying to inform NTL that they can take the cash on the 8th when we are paid as there is enough in to cover the other two outstanding bills.

We have asked nicely mate we got told no and a very sarcastic woman who tells us nothing can be done and it is our problem with it being so close to bill date.

Re: How long do i have

Spoke rather harsh to them again and although it will attempt tonight instead of attempting in 4days time ( working days ) it shall do in 10 giving us time ( next wednesday ) to get paid and shove £300 in that bank to pay everyone off.

marky 31-08-2005 16:13

Re: How long do i have

Hope it all works out saxo, know the feeling about cash being tight all too well, there's always too much month left, never enough money.
Anyway, keep cool bud, and don't let all this make us loose one of the best posters on this forum:juggle:

Good luck.
Is there no cash you have saved up for a rainy day that you could use ?
I hope it all turns out ok for you.

Re: How long do i have

You can't really blame NTL for you not having the cash in the bank to meet the DD payment which I would presume always comes at around the same date each month.

Talking to the bank is your best bet. I have had an account with the Bank of Scotland (which is the BOS in Halifax Bank Of Scotland) for many years and they have always given excellent service. Talking to them before something happens gets better results than waiting for penalties to be applied. Try telephoning your branch and having a word.

You can kind of, NTL wont always move a DD date (they wouldn't for me) so when you go from being payed on 1st of month to the 10th then it can screw things up... as some companies will move your bill date, others wont.

I get round it by paying by standing order if a company wont move the DD for me and ditched NTL in anycase.

rogerdraig 01-09-2005 11:01

Re: How long do i have

if they wont move the date cancel it then ask to set up a new one

and do phone halifax ( though you may need to go through password set up if you havnt done telephone banking ) and let them know they mostly are helpfull if you tell them

Re: How long do i have

You could try asking Halifax for an overdraft (or extension). That usually goes in immediately and should stop you having to pay charges.
