Got the new software on my Samsung this morning. I'm based in Guildford.

yep, me too ... got the trademark "Software updated" message.

Don't know what to do with it, but we seem to have it.

You LOOK at it, cross your fingers, hope it's not just 'coming soon' ;):D

I have a little VOD arrow on my menu now.....

Does Surrey mean Aldershot? (North East Hampshire)

Does VOD only work on Samsung STB's or can I get it on my Pace (4010, I think)?

Well mine is a pace, so I assume so.

I thought the Scots (Glasgow) got this first actually, You can't get much more North in the UK than that (well OK you can, but Scotland is miles away and my geography doesn't make many distinctions past Watford Gap Services :dozey: )

Does any one know when it is coming to Yorkshire per chance?

I'd like to know when it's coming to Bromley. It's only a head end...

Re: VOD Software arrives in Surrey !

OK - my box upgraded and said you have new features, but what to do with it?

I expected to see some of the free BBC playbacks under 'On Demand', but just the standard Movies/Events/Adult.

Is there no free VOD content yet?

If I get a On Demand movie now, how do I pause/rewind etc?

Is there a guide to VOD (other than Tristan's behind the scenes guide)?

Tia

Re: VOD Software arrives in Surrey !

The way it typically works is that the VOD software is rolled out first, with the servers being switched on a week or two afterwards. This way, the NTL guys only have one set of potential problems to deal with at a time.

You won't have any new features until this happens. However, you should notice that the STB is less prone to crashing and is a bit more responsive than before. Also, teletext provision seems to improve with every release, so you may find that's better too...

Will keep an eye on it for the next couple of weeks then! :tu:

About four weeks ago, if you're in Kirklees. The servers haven't been switched on yet though.

I got a "software updated" message today, but it said the main improvement was the programme guide

Got it in Hertford last night, caused C4 to dissapear for a while, though it was available on the bypass feed.

VOD Launched in Surrey

As the title suggests, VOD is now available in Surrey/Hampshire areas (original ntl). All seems to work ok and quite a large selection of music/films etc..

NDE01 usually indicates an error with the return path. What happens if you press the Interactive button on your remote control?

GU15: it works here. I watched "Father ted" (for free) but the colour was not quite right

Interactive is fine. Have tried a reboot or two but no joy.

Sounds like a fault then. Give Faults a call on 0800 052 2000 (Option 3). They're open until 5pm today, and then 10am-4pm tomorrow, and 9am-5pm on the Bank holiday.

Spoke to faults. The guy said he would reset my service and to leave the box on for 30 minutes and then switch it off for 30 secs, turn it back on whilst holding the down key on the remote.

Did all of this and no change.

Hold in the down arrow on your BOX, WHILE YOU TURN IT ON AT THE PLUG....and then keep it held.

It won't help. It's probably a signal level problem. A field tech will be needed to fix this.

Cheers guys.

I tried the box down button but no joy. I guess I need to call NTL again.

Re: [Merged] VOD Launched in Surrey (Original NTL area)

Have called NTL again. The girl at NTL said I need to speak to second line support who can sort the problem out over the phone. She said they will call me in 24-48 hours.

Re: [Merged] VOD Launched in Surrey (Original NTL area)

Well I rang again yesterday and got an engineer booked for Tuesday. :)

Then this morning get a phone call that it is fixed and to check it. Fire up VOD and sure enough it works. The NTL guy said there had been a problem with the head end (??) unit and it was now fixed.

Initial view on VOD? Quite impressed and quite fast to use. Nice one NTL.

When Surrey was originally cabled was it the same platform as Leicester?

any news when essex this getting it

quadplay 14-09-2005 16:42

Re: [Merged] VOD Launched in Surrey (Original NTL area)

It depends what you mean by Essex - assuming you mean the Romford area, it's going to be a while as Romford is on the "Bromley" platform, and the VoD preparation is not yet complete for Bromley.

Oh, and :welcome: to CF!
