Ports denied request to land 120 migrants in RNLI boats

Ports denied request to land 120 migrants in RNLI boats

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm27v3743mno

Quote:

Requests to accept the landing of RNLI boats carrying 120 migrants intercepted off the Isle of Wight were refused by both Portsmouth harbour and Southampton Port.

Associated British Ports (ABP), which operates Southampton, said it was not the closest port and it "did not have suitable reception facilities available".
May make these people think twice about taking the much longer and more dangerous 'trip' to different ports

Good to see somebody at least making a stand, although fully expecting legal bods to soon put a stop to this sort of thing.

Apparently a leaked home office reporr/ opinion is that 1% of asylum claims are genuine, Apparently immigration officials hear the same story literally thousands of times word for word, as if it's a script that's been learnt rather than lived

We could have done so but 51.9% decided to forgo this option back in June 2016. Rude to question a democratic season, I'm sure you'll agree.

From official EU figures.
For 2024, Germany had a net figure of 1,236 immigrants leaving for other EU countries, out of 74,561 requests by Germany for them to be dealt with elsewhere. If we were in the EU, we would have to accept loads more. Under the EU/EEA rules for 2018, we may have been able to send 209 back to the EU, but had to accept 1,215.

Somewhat better than the numbers we get in Brexit Britain.

Just a guess, but if they aren't screaming for help in French waters, there's not a lot they can (legally) do . . apart from following them to ensure their safety . . . until it's not their concern anymore.

*that could be what we're paying them for

if i took a dingy to cleethorpes beech i would be stopped from launching an un registered vessel by the beech patrol but then we have standards

Misleading rubbish.
Quote:

In 2018, only 299 people were detected crossing the English Channel in small boats, but by 2023 this number had risen to 29 437 (still less than the peak of 45 774 a year earlier).
That's because they were previously arriving by lorry and were largely undetected and those are not included in any figures. 7,600 were caught in 2018, so add that to the 299 arriving by "small boat". How come if in 2018 only 299 arrived, that 1,215 were sent back? Far more than a mere 299 people were living in the camp at Calais. We're talking 4 or 5 figures with more that arrived every day.

I never understood why people from another country, sneaking into our country, couldn't be shot as spies once caught ;)

Indeed a future Reform administration will make it clear that only the Laws of Ingerland will apply here and can’t be overruled by these pesky Laws of Physics or Mathematics?

/s just in case there is any confusion.

Not sure if the present mob in charge actually already have their own version of Mathematics.
It seems very much like Peter borrows to pay Paul, who originally borrowed from Clive, who is now bankrupt and on the dole and now far better off than he was.

So not dissimilar to how the current AI ‘boom’ is being funded!
