Where is the racism?

I am looking but I cannot find it, all I see is what some would consider sensible policies, whilst others would see some that are not strong enough and others would say they are to strong but I have not seen anything that I would consider racist yet.

Out of interest, can anyone explain why a “Restore Britain” web site is asking for a State and Zip Code?

Or is it being funded by yet another American billionaire or think tank?

When I look at it, it requests "Address (Street, City, State, Zip)" - no VPN being used…

Rejoining the EU won't restore Britain. We'd be an even greater laughing stock than we are now.

Unless ... if there is a viable plan or evidence to conclusively show that our financial services would grow the economy by some percentage points, then let them laugh at us.

All this crap about Europe buying things we make has no evidential foundation today. For a start, what do we make that they can't buy now and would buy if we rejoined?

All we need is a government that can boost our economy. The longer the current bunch of idiots stay in power, the more difficult eventual recovery will become. Recovery will be painful because we have to reduce government expenditure at a time when demand is high. None of the political parties have a credible plan for that. I mean, shit creek just about covers the mess we're in and rejoining the EU, with the £25 billion or so per year that we'd have to chuck them so that France can continue its farming practices and for Ireland to continue calling the shots, will only delivber more pain.

Well, considering that 6.6%* of the working population are on the NMW, and accounted for around 2.5% of the economy-wide wage bill in 2025, probably not going to have a huge impact...


*which includes under-18s and apprentices on £8 per hour

Honest questions.

Do you think that forcing employers to pay a wage more than they can 'comfortably' afford actually leads to better job creation and opportunities for the unemployed?

Would it be fair to assume that employers (businesses) faced with having to pay employees a wage that - at best - leaves them breaking even over the financial year, have no problem at all in moving that business to a country where lower wages* allows them to make a profit and ensure future growth?


*and sometimes a nice tax incentive

Do you mean like Waitrose, who made £1.5 billion post tax profit last year, or the businesses in this chart (National Minimum Wage by occupation)?

No, the three things were separate points…

a) large employer with a lot of low-paid employees made good profits, so not going out of business due to MNW

b) lots of small businesses with employees on NMW are types of businesses that won’t/can’t offshore

c) research estimates any impacts on employment of the introduction of the NLW and its upratings were small, and not statistically significantly different from zero

There is no need to cut back on public services. Just the waste, bureaucracy and unnecessary projects undertaken by the government.

Most of sense what you've said about waste & bureaucracy to be right. But that's too glib. A lot of detail and specifics are necessary. Also cutting back on the government payroll has to be done addresses some of the waste and bureaucracy. It's cheaper to pay them on the dole than on wages. It's brutal what has to be done.

However, to recognise some of what you said, an instant start needs to be made on the planning system and associated environmental constraints, particularly bats, newts, the cost of surveys, bat hotels and so on. Then it'll annoy the EU and so it goes on. But we have our freedom to annoy them and be more efficient. But who can mastermind this apart from me, Carth and Papa?
