Virginmedia huge outage

Just switched on my TV and all channels are garbled mess, can't even log into my account.

Anyone else affected here?

Yes, it’s national.

Had to resort to Freeview to be able to watch anything (except Mrs Brown’s Boys - I could never be that desperate).

Re: Virginmedia huge outage

Doomwatch is on Taliking Pictues, channel 82 on Freeview. Best thing on tonight.

Seems to have been fixed just after the final whistle blew at Anfield.

Hmm. Was it a deliberate attack by someone?

All channels were pixelated, rebooted my V6 and things are much clearer now.

Re: Virginmedia huge outage

Apparently it is affecting other providers as well, Sky is also reporting issues.

Just seen this, I wondered why the wife was mooching around the house and mumbling :D

My offline gaming wasn't affected, but I'll accept any refund offered (yeah right, like that's gonna happen)

Yes, just in time for full time. Its Putin, a well known Everton supporter.

Take that back!

Putin may be a genocidal war-mongering opponent-murdering megalomaniac, but even he wouldn’t stoop that low…

Same here in NW Leeds - re-booting the V6 fixed it.

TNT Ultimate sound is stuttering like mad in the B42 area Perry Barr.

Re: Virginmedia huge outage

Check the audio settings on that channel on your box, to make sure you have Dolby Digital selected.

Re: Virginmedia huge outage

It’s only since VM went down it’s a problem their end. I’ve tried rebooting

cupcakes aka dd 17-08-2025 23:00

Re: Virginmedia huge outage

So various people are having this problem in different areas. The fix at the moment is to pause play for a few seconds then unpause.

---------- Post added at 23:00 ---------- Previous post was at 22:50 ----------

Another solution
I’ve sorted it. On my V6 box if I press info you can change the audio track from stereo to unknown Dolby audio.

I now have perfect sound and it’s outputting Dolby Atmos on my receiver.

Not hearing any rear ambient noise though, so I suspect it’s stereo being sent out as fake Dolby Atmos which is probably what is causing the issue.

I thought this was fixed 2 days ago? Although I've not been home to test it.

The only live TV I watch is the BBC News at Ten - most of my viewing is from the Virgin watchlist. I haven’t noticed any issues at all here.

Re: Virginmedia huge outage

TV and Broadband in the EH52 are in West Lothian has been a nightmare in the last couple of days. Originally they said it was just our home and arranged an engineer visit. They cancelled the visit late yesterday saying there was an outage in our area. Fix time keeps changing. Was originally today at 1408 and the latest change is now Tuesday 26th at 1008. Broadband has been down at least 5 times today, and when it comes back it is only on for a short period. I have registered the issue, so, we will see how they cope with the compensation if and when they fix it.

Make sure you have registered for some compensation when doing the service status check.

They changed the login procedure a few weeks ago and you can't login until you switch over.

Yes however it's something that I and it appears quite a few others(according to the agent) can't do. You go to register, enter e mail and password, it can't confirm. Use another way, says its will send confirmation to e mail. That never arrives  it is a reported incident.
Need to add that I had it the past followed the new login. This all started at the same time a broad band problems. However it's been flaky since the change over.
