Lets say you wake up tomorrow and ya suddenly discover your body is that of the opposite gender. What would ya do and how would ya react?
Would you try to make the best of it,correct it with surgery or would you even go so far as to commit suicide? Would you even be secretly happy about it? I dunno how I would feeel....... |

Its a daft question since it cannot happen, and even if it were possible, I seriously doubt anyone would choose "commit suicide".

Although not an overnight change, I remember the TV programme about a Caribbean Island, where some are born appearing to be female, but later on physically change to male. I think there's a Pacific Island with the same genetic fault.

You left out, seek counselling and psychiatric help, as it would be a mental disorder.

Re: You wake up tomorrow,as the opposite gender..
I believe that the soul/spirit of some people is born into the wrong body and that this is what's happened to true transgender people. A man looking at his body of a female (and vice versa) must be a living hell.
I have always tried to be kind and understanding of such people and have known of men who have killed themselves because they couldn't cope with being transgender (or gay). Interestingly, their sexuality is completely separate to their true gender. A man who fancies women will still fancy women even if they transition to their true self as a female. |

It is also the reason why it’s basically outrageous for anyone to claim that ‘misgendering’ should be any sort of crime, because calling someone ‘he’ when they think they are a ‘she’ is no more serious than refusing to affirm their metaphysical beliefs. We did away with our blasphemy laws (albeit surprisingly recently). You may believe that someone’s soul may be born into the wrong body, but I don’t … and while I wouldn’t expect you to prove it scientifically (it being a metaphysical belief, which is categorically not science), I would hope you could provide some consistent body of quality philosophical work in support of it. Such intellectual rigour is notably absent in this area. |

Re: You wake up tomorrow,as the opposite gender..
Generally this seems to be a very one-sided fear or hate. It's always oh no, how can 'men' get access to female spaces.
It never seems to be mentioned about female to male transgender issues. Making it really sound like people only have problems with the male to female aspect. I am not just talking about here, it's in general also. Also medical intervention etc isn't just give them drugs and let them have surgery. For many younger and older transgender folk it's also about the right support in terms of therapy sessions and talking to psychologists etc. As many people suffer from mental health troubles due to their feelings and also how they get treated by other people. |

The reason the discussion tilts heavily towards men who identify as women, as opposed to the other way round, is that men and women are not equally vulnerable. Statistically, if a woman and a man are alone in a secluded space the woman is much more vulnerable than the man. This applies regardless of what gender each individual believes themself to be. A male goes into a women’s toilet presents a risk to the women there simply because he is a man - regardless of the man’s dress, intentions, or personal beliefs about himself. The statistics and personal experience tell the women they must be wary. The same does not apply when a woman goes into a men’s toilet. In that case it is *still* the woman who is at risk, for all the same reasons she is at risk when a man comes into her space. This applies whether or not the woman identifies as a man. The problem with trans activism and #NoDebate (and its offspring, #BeKind) is that it wilfully ignores these things and demands everybody else does too. And that leads directly to the scandal at the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre which was finally, fully exposed this week, and the resignation of the man who has been its chief executive for the past three years (Mridul Wadhwa, who believes he is a woman). Yes, they let a man run a centre intended as a refuge for some of the most vulnerable women in our society. And all because a certain section of society demands we treat men who say they are women, as if they actually are women. The results of this were predictable, and were predicted, by many people, many of whom were told to #ShutUp and #BeKind. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2edeyzz0xmo |
