World Cricket
Anything not exclusively English Cricket welcomed.

Re: World Cricket
You just knew the Americans would introduce some novel features to the T20 World Cup.

Re: World Cricket
This purpose built, pop up stadium in New York is quite impressive even if both ends are virtually empty.

Re: World Cricket
Think England probably got out of jail there, their batting would have needed to perform a lot better than the bowlers to have scored 109 off 10.

Re: World Cricket
This Pakistan player Azam Khan is unreal. Makes Colin Milburn look thin, has an average of 8.5 from 13 innings in T20. Has to keep wicket (very badly) because he can't field. Got a 1st ball duck in the last warm up game against England and got another golden duck just now against USA. Smells strongly of nepotism.

They have removed him from behind the timbers, can't see where they are hiding him yet.:D
---------- Post added at 20:49 ---------- Previous post was at 20:02 ---------- Well even though not a big fan of Whack a Mole cricket I enjoyed that.:D |
Re: World Cricket
USA beat Pakistan. Some dodgy bookmakers involved again in a Pakistan result? Cynical moi? ;)
|
Re: World Cricket
That first ball from the USA in the super over was miles wide and not called. Given Mohammed Amir's history anything is possible.
|
Re: World Cricket
Hopefully England can avoid this pitch in New York. It is a shocker and has produced some dreadful scores already. Now South Africa are 3-3 in 2.3 overs.
|
Re: World Cricket
Bairstow should be pensioned off now, slow in the field, batting has gone downhill big time.

I see the Pakistanis have finally seen the light regarding Azam Khan. :D

Re: World Cricket
This New York wicket has had a lot of criticism but it's nice to see the bowlers having the upper hand for a change, and it is leading to some exciting finishes.

Re: World Cricket
Finally England are playing a left arm seamer, should have dropped Bairstow as well. To little to late I fear .

On the upside if as I suspect England don’t get through it means I won’t have any conflicts watching the England footy team in the Euros. ---------- Post added at 21:16 ---------- Previous post was at 20:33 ---------- Well that’s the first bit done, just need to score 48 in 32 balls to better Scotlands current run rate.:) ---------- Post added at 21:48 ---------- Previous post was at 21:16 ---------- Job done, the do say you can only beat what is put in front of you but that was farcical on every level.:( |
Re: World Cricket
Surprised Greenland haven't qualified for the finals.

Climate change has killed this World Cup. It hasn't stopped raining in Florida and the W Indies. Almost as bad as Old Trafford ;)
|
Re: World Cricket
England going out it seems tonight without a ball being bowled.
What a complete shitshow.:( |
Re: World Cricket
Scheduled to start at 21.00hrs, 11 overs each, unless it rains again.
England lose the toss. ---------- Post added at 21:58 ---------- Previous post was at 20:39 ---------- Well the two Yorkshire lads have finally come to the party, down to the bowlers now. |
Re: World Cricket
Superb performance from England, moving through the gears nicely. Such a pity the match was played at stupid o'clock.

Re: World Cricket
Such a shame for Afghanistan they copped for an appalling wicket in the semi final.:(

Re: World Cricket
The way that Indian money has been allowed to skew this competition is disgraceful.
‘India have known for months their semi-final would be in Guyana, because it has a 10.30am start time, suiting the Asian broadcasters who prop up the game financially, whereas Trinidad is a night game. They have been able to plan for conditions from the start. After all, it is even explicitly written into the playing regulations that a different set of rules apply to India regarding the semi-final under article 16.10.6: “NOTE: If India qualifies for the semi-finals, they will play in the second semi-final scheduled for Guyana on the 27 June 2024.’ There was a reserve day scheduled for the first semi final but none for the second. This means if it is totally washed out India go through as group winners. |

Abysmal performance from England, making the football team look good. It was going along nicely until Buttler played a stupid, non cricket shot against the spinners first ball.
|
Re: World Cricket
It's only 20/20, which isn't cricket anyway. Roll on the Test Matches, unbelievably none till July.

Slightly OT but I noticed that the Indian opening bowlers names begin with Bum and Ars.
