Mass pixelation

On the VM forum in the last few days there are multiple reports of pixelation on all channels on all types of box's - anyone having the same problem?

Seen bursts of it on the V6. Same Freeview channels clear.

I thought it was just on my V6 recordings but have been seeing some pixelation on live channels over the last few days as well.

Re: Mass pixelation

From here and the VM forum it seems over a widespread area

Re: Mass pixelation

I do normally go onto the VM forum if I have any problems but the pavement cabinet is in full sun and had put the pixelation down to the very high temprature.

I have checked my Service Status and it says VM can’t see any issues affecting my area. It's a lot cooler at the moment but I will run VM's test when I next get the problem.

I have rebooted our V6 to-day as advised on the community forum I also note that the same problem is being reported on all the V6, TV 360 and Tivo areas. I will officially report the issue if it occurs again but with so many reports on the forum it would be helpful if one of the staffers at least showed an interest.

Been getting this same problem over the last week or two.

Re: Mass pixelation

Thank goodness, I thought it was just my connection. I've been watching the England cricket for 3 days and it is very annoying having the pixilation constantly popping up. Like others have said status shows as everything fine.

Re: Mass pixelation

IMHO the online status is only really useful for national, widespread issues. Local loss of service is much more reliable on automated 0800 5610061

Re: Mass pixelation

Sky News has been particularly bad the past few days. But also on the cricket (as I’m typing!), F1 and Sky Arts channels.

Gavin-D 18-06-2023 17:51

Re: Mass pixelation

I've had it on BBC channels and Channel 4

iadom 19-06-2023 14:14

Had it for several days now on both boxes and across all channels.

Re: Mass pixelation

For the first couple of hours today in the cricket it was fine but it's now back again the same as it's been all weekend.

Re: Mass pixelation

I'm still getting pixelation so decided to check my Service Status. Broadband and Phone are shown as OK but TV is now showing an exclamation mark.

When I go through to check the TV status VM state.....

Sorry, we can’t run a test on your services right now
We are aware of ongoing issues with our Virgin Media email services

We hope to fix this by 19 June at 19:30
Our technician is in your area and is working to fix things.

You might find that your Virgin Media Mail isn’t working at the moment. We are sorry and working hard to restore your Mail service as quickly as possible.
:erm: Never realised that the quality of tv picture and VM's email service were dependant on each other. You learn something new every day.:)

Same for me----worst than the England cricket i've been watching.

There seems to be a general problem but no comments from Virgin.

Not only getting pixelation on various TV channels, but my phone is out of service, too (Area 30 - supposed to be fixed today).

I wonder if the lightning storms have anything to do with it.

Posting in a thread about TV pixellation or the email issue isn't going to help you get it resolved. I'm not aware of a big broadband outage in Birmingham, but you could be affected by something very localised, or maybe it's just a fault at your home. I suggest you contact VM about it.

Both the TV pixelation & email issues have F numbers on the service status page so they are being investigated

TV pixelation - F010763089; estimated fix... 26th June, 4.10pm
Email issue - F010762348; estimated fix...today, 4.00pm

The national pixellation fault was fixed at 03:40 this morning. If you still have picture issues, these are a separate problem and need to raise with VM

I too have seen pixellation across many channels and at different times, including on recordings. I see that it is reported that the national issue was fixed early on 20 June. On the same day (evening) I watched a recording of a C5 programme made on 19 June and that had quite bad pixellation. As that recording was made before the issue was fixed, would the pixellation be retained on the recording or would the "fix" fix the recording too? I haven't yet had the chance to see any recordings made after the fix was implemented.

Pixellation will stay on the recording.

Not yet, mate, I tried on Friday but got put through to the usual overseas line, and tbh they are totally useless, I asked to be put through to someone in the UK but apparently no one was available, so I just gave up, the customer service is utter crap!

Kevc69 09-07-2023 12:00

Re: Mass pixelation

"No one available" makes a change from the usual "we aren't allowed to transfer you to the UK" which retentions have repeatedly said is rubbish.

ozsat 09-07-2023 13:25

Re: Mass pixelation

They may say it but I don't think they are unable to transfer to UK.

I suspect there is some penalty for either the staff member or the out-sourced company if too many calls are actually directed back to the UK.

There comes a point that it isn't worth having overseas call centres if call are being pass on.

I don't have an issue with oversea call centres. I have an issue in using call centres where they staff have no hands-on experience or hands-on access.

Re: Mass pixelation

I dont care where call centres are located, I do care that I cant understand what they say, or that they blindly follow scripts with no real ability to actually help.

They have been ringing me everyday this week becasue my contract is up soon (from a Blackburn number) and I cant understand half of what they are saying. I blocked the number after 2 days.

Re: Mass pixelation

Has anyone else got pixelation on Sky Documentary HD, More4 HD and MTV HD?

I have found the pixelation comes and goes.

pixelation was on Sky Documentary HD at 2am on Thursday but was away by 9pm on Thursday.

No pixelation yesterday.

Woke up today and pixelation has reappear.

Re: Mass pixelation

You have a signal fault. Those channels are all on the same frequency.

Make sure all the cable connectors are tight. You will need a technician visit if that doesn't fix it.

I feel it coming from Virgin end.

It on two boxes - all other channels are ok - Just got boxes on August 2nd - just to be on phone for over 90mins on August 3rd to get Virgin out to work on boxes again.

All work on new boxes was done by "technician".

I am really starting to think about joining Sky.

Is Virgin Media own by Disney???

Update the pixelation on Animal Planet HD, Sky Documentary HD, More4 HD and MTV HD on both boxes are now 90% batter then yesterday.
