The date has now been set, episode 1 will air on 23rd August 2023. :)

It will also feature 'live' versions of Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger & Grand Admiral Thrawn, from the animation series Star Wars Rebels.

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

Grand Admiral Thrawn goes way, way back. He was created for a a series of original Star Wars novels published in the early 90s, although the way the character was later adopted and portrayed in Rebels has long since rendered all his old appearances in novels (five of them, eventually, IIRC) sadly non-canon.

I’ve not bothered with any of the animated Star Wars material so I will be curious to see whether the Thrawn we have now is as good as he was originally written (which IMO was extremely good).

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

I'm aware of his history, I vaguely remember reading one of those books in the mid 1990's.

Although they were all declared non-canon, Lucasfilm did like him, and Feloni decided to use him in Star Wars Rebels (even though its set a little earlier in the timeline than his original namesake).

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

He's excellent in Rebels, and I believe it is his voice actor who is playing him. I deffos recommend giving Rebels a watch.

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

yes, season 1 Rebels is OK, but once it gets going it's really good, and you're introduced to other characters and events that have been seen/referenced in the live action series.

I read that it's not essential viewing to enjoy Ahsoka, but I'd imagine it will make more sense if you've already seen it, and ppl being excited about other ppl turning up in Mandalorian etc

I read the original Thrawn trilogy many years ago, and liked Thrawn in Rebels.

I enjoyed them, looking forward to seeing where it goes. It seems like you have to of seen Rebels though, as it is a continuation of that show.

If not, this may help…

I've seen episode 1 so far, I'll likely watch E02 tomorrow. Liking it so far.

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

I didn’t watch rebels so coming into it new.

I thought it was good, not as gripping as Andor.

I like David Tennants android, I like Ray Stevenson and anything with Clancy Brown immediately gets upvoted.

See how it goes, but a decent start.

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

The scene at the end of episode 2, where Sabine waits by the group picture, as Ahsoka turns up, is a direct replication of the final scene from Rebels, when she first became her padawan.

3rd episode in, doesn’t disappoint. ;)

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

I'm happy with the first two episodes. #3 on the media server Wednesday to view later.

Chris 31-08-2023 19:55

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

Part 3 was as close as any of the TV shows have come to doing actual Star Wars. Really enjoyed it. They are also continuing to keep the story open enough for those who haven’t seen the Rebels or Clone Wars cartoons to follow along - but only just.

Pierre 06-09-2023 20:40

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

It’s starting to edge into “meh” territory. It’s not there yet and the reveal at the end is keeping it above the line, but I’m not counting the days until next week.

Paul 28-09-2023 02:00

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

Apparently one of the "Great Mothers" is played by Claudia Black.

As far as the show is concerned, I'm enjoying it, but given there is only one episode left, I hope the ending isnt going to be rushed.

Pierre 29-09-2023 20:10

Re: Star Wars: Ahsoka

It was very meh, Until that Star Destroyer turned up.

Thrawn is a fantastic Nazi.

So my only complaint is it took too long to get to the meat.
