Disney +

1 Attachment(s)
Do you think Disney + is coming soon. Had to look at service status today for another reason and it was saying that the app was unavailable at this time. The engineers are working on it and hopefully have a fix by 15th June?!?! Maybe a little slip by someone?!?!

That probably just relates to Virgin's Stream box, which has the app. As for traditional TV platforms, I think it's still a Sky exclusive.

Probably referring to Disney+, as a whole.

It’s probably the best of the main streamers. Netflix is a shadow of its former self, Prime is terrible bar some classic films and NOW is all-round strange.

There is a little part of me that thinks it is Virgin that is holding back on Disney plus. The main Disney stuff is available to buy or rent in The Virgin Media store which people then wouldn’t buy or rent from if they released the Disney plus app on the main boxes.

It's all about opinions I suppose, I like NOW TV as it has a lot of Atlantic drama series, and Netflix still has pretty good choices also, I wouldn't describe NOW as strange.

You must be joking! Netflix remains the main streamer of choice and carries the most and the best new originals than any other streamer.

Prime does have a lot on it, but many people are very lazy when it comes to searching for more programmes. Have you tried searching ‘Amazon originals’? Too many people choose their viewing by reference to the highlighted choices on the main screen. I add new programmes that interest me for my watchlist as they come out, and I have amassed a huge number of programmes that I want to see in the future.

I think perhaps you just need to be more organised and ensure you manage your watchlists each week.

There are very few original programmes for adults on Disney+ at present but I am sure that will change with time.

Wow, you've obviously not looked at Disney+ properly in a long time as there are a huge range of Star Originals.

Disney + is excellent. Netflix is still very strong. Amazon Prime i find to be lacking a lot and i keep on purely for the prime delivery aspect.

Now TV is good thats as much ill get for streaming services

Yes, I’ve listed them, but I have a bigger list for Netflix! Much bigger, in fact.

A lot of people say that Amazon has little choice, but I don’t think they are aware of everything on there. Try searching ‘Amazon originals’, for example!

Disney + has virtually no appeal to me , once you take out Star Wars and Marvel both of which I have no interest in there’s very little else unless you have young children.

Saying that 'there’s very little else unless you have young children' is simply not true. That's the whole point of the Star section which is packed to the rafters with content for adults including Hulu, ABC Studios, 20th Television, 20th Century Studios and other television and films to enjoy.

For what it is worth l like Netflix but its repeatable price rises make it increasingly poor value imo.

l like Disney + as it has got a lot of content our family like.

Amazon Prime is very good overall value currently although l suspect there will be a price rise coming there sometime later this year.

Now TV is only required on a intermittent basis for a couple of months once a year generally.

Sorry but I disagree and it’s very much the point , a lot of the Star content are things I’ve seen before on pay TV they don’t have enough new originals.

That’s what I think, too, although maybe things will steadily improve over time as new originals are added.

It’s a must to have really if there are children in the house (any age).

Of course it's fine for you to have a personal view on the value of the content to you, and whether there is enough of the sort of thing you are interested in. But it's another thing to state something as fact, when it's not.

The previous CEO of Disney stated in December 2021 the service needed more content for more people which says it all really.

Disney + has some excellent titles but it needs more new originals for adults who aren’t interested in it’s Marvel and Star Wars universes.

Thankfully, Disney+ is continually expanding its range of content for adults, including some local commissioning.

Until then, the vast library of original and archive films and television from the likes of FX, Hulu, ABC Studios, 20th Century Studios, 20th Television, Searchlight and National Geographic offers a huge choice for adults.

Disney+ is the go-to of my 3 (soon to be 4) streamers. As Sonic and Vince said, it is excellent value and provides the latest shows and movies from the likes of ABC, Disney, FX etc.

Finally! The good thing is, you can bookmark the programmes, too.

Now, how long before we get the other pluses, such as Discovery, Paramount, Apple…..?

We seem to be getting there, but at a snail’s pace.

That's £22 now which is still a great deal.

For me I do all my shopping at Tesco so it's just £6 of Free money, just have to wait until the 3 months expires as they don't stack.
