Scotland Census 2022

I just filled out the census 2022 form. A question asked about what I did in my previous job and I said "could not answer this as I signed the official secrets act". Now I'm wondering if I could be fined for not answering the question. And I can't change the form now that I've submitted it online.

They can always send it back if not happy with the answers

Census does not override official secrets act and unless the Scot's government have changed thing's you won't suffer any negative consequences.

I suspect not.
Its run by NRS, which I assume is funded by Scotland.

Was that a factual answer, or facetious?

If factual you should be OK*, if facetious, probably not so much… ;)

When I left the military (I had worked in intelligence collection & analysis), we were given a job description to use that was factually correct, but also gave nothing away…

Ah -

https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/statis...us/2022-census

It seems postponed from 2021 due to Covid.

If I remember correctly, it was along the lines of "Hugh has had extensive training and operational experience in utilising various advanced communication and cryptological technologies in high pressure environments, working in small and large teams consisting of both civilian and military personnel from multiple countries. Hugh also has been trained and been actively involved in collating and analysing information from other teams and areas and providing high-level and detailed reports from this information."

It’s the 2021 census, postponed due to covid. I’m not entirely clear on why it was felt necessary to abandon it last year when every other part of the UK coped, but there we go.

It was a serious answer. I remember the job interview I had years ago telling me I would have to sign the official sercrets act.

Yes. I just wonder who is reading through millions of census forms to look for mistakes.
