Invasion (Apple tv)
 

Anyone watching this? The first 3 episodes are available immediate streaming and the rest will be weekly.

Comes across in many ways like an American “War of the Worlds” in that it’s a fairly slow burner.

Seem like it could have legs.

So far, Ive watched episode 1.

It does seem to be a bit slow, but I'll see how it goes.

Neither do I but I will watch them all together if reviews are good once finished. I made the mistake of watching Y The last man as it aired but with it being cancelled, I assume it will not end properly so scrapped it. Better to wait till they all aired

Watched the first one. Like it. Great cinematography and great switching between characters lives. Glad it’s not bam from the word go with The Rock shooting hoards of bugs from an insane laser gun.

Well, Ive made it to the end of episode 3.

Its definitely slow burning, but just about doing enough to keep me interested, I'll keep watching for now.

It’s also the (main) one I don’t have. There’s not enough value in all of these tenners.

I would choose to have Apple over Amazon and Netflix, the quality of the stuff they make is out of this world. If you watch series like See, For All Mankind and Foundation you come away thinking somebody at Apple sat down and said "if we are going to do this we are going to do it properly and it doesn't matter how much it costs". Apple may have been late into the streaming game but imho they really do set the standard for everyone else to beat with regards to the quality of material they produce. The thing which bugs me about Netflix is that they seem more interested in quantity over quality and the majority of the tv series and movies they make are very average.

Speaking of which, the app is going to start appearing on the Sky Q boxes so hopefully people will be curious and take a look at it and see how much quality stuff there is on offer.

If it slows down any more it'll stop.

I'm trying to be patient with it, but Im running out.
We did at least get a very brief glimpse of an alien (I think).

It better start coming to life soon, or Im going to relegate it to "skip through" watching.

I’m guessing that scene was put in as a dangling carrot to keep us watching. You’re absolutely right, I think “slow burning” can work if it’s done well but doubt is starting to creep in now.

Ive been reading the reviews on it, and they all pretty much say the same.

It needs to get going soon or no one will be left watching it by the time it does.

I have just caught up. I am curious to know if they'll be returning to Sam Neill or if he was just in the first ep as a crowd puller for the promos.

yeah, I am thinking the tone of this season is going to be all about the initial impact and reaction it. Although we thinking it is dragging on a bit I think the events transpiring in the series are all happening over a day or two. They should put a clock on it like 24 :) It will be interesting to see if it changes pace and if they change the cast in season 2 to tell the story from a different perspective.

Ok now things are starting to kick off. Still a slow ep but more action than usual and the main characters are slightly less annoying than usual.

So far its been hard work, but there has just about been enough to keep me going.
I've not seen this weeks yet, and I'm off to see OMD in a bit, so it will probably be tomorrow before I do.

Well it was certainly more lively.

More like an episode from a horror story, lots of screaming.

Worst episode for me. This is the reason why I don't watch horrors, too much emphasis on suspense, standing around and silence. I actually wanted to turn it off and breathed a sigh of relief when it ended prematurely after 33 minutes.

Seems like they’re now ramping things up further. Still a bit slow but we got to find out a lot more in this ep. Dangling possible scenarios in front of us and certainly enough to keep me watching now.

I would have disagreed with you towards the end had it actually led to something exciting, which it appeared to do so and then…..pffft.

The problem as I see it is they’re trying to do all this in real time and it’s not working too well. They could have covered everything so far in 1 or maybe 2 episodes if they’re weren’t trying so hard to be pretentious.

Finally got to this weeks, a better episode, actual aliens.
That said, Im starting to tire of the Jap girl, very irritating.
Also, a bit confused why that group attacked the military vehicle.

Definitely an interesting end to the episode.

Curious to see what happens next week, and where it can go in Season 2.

Only thing I can think of is they somehow know about what she was carrying and were after that.

But yes, definitely a corner-turning episode. I just hope they pull enough rabbits out of the hat next week to make a re-commission worth it.

Just seen the trailer for this and looked worthy of investigating. I didn’t watch S1 as I read that it was very slow and boring?

It was very very slow, and as a result, boring in places, it was also good at times.

I have not seen the new season yet, so I'm not sure how much sense it would make if you havent seen any of season 1.
I suspect it may be confusing. Hopefully they will also have learned from the many many reviews and picked up the pace a bit.

Well, I’ve watched S1 and I found it very good.

Slow? Not really. Better than War or the Worlds. Seriously edgy at times.

Just started Ep1 S2, and in 10 mins I already dislike it……………….

But , we’ll see how it goes.

I found S1 really slow, and S2 (E1) to be better.
