Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
Will anyone be buying the latest Apple iPhone?
I was finally planning of upgrading my old iPhone to an iPhone 12 Pro hoping it would go down in price now the 13 is out but it looks like that one has been completly axed. I'm guessing the changes are so little this year that removing the 12 Pro makes it look like a bit more of a jump in features. So it looks like I'll be having to stump for the 13 Pro instead. Would have been nice to see a few more features..... It isn't a ground breaking improvement to the last model really. What do you think? |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
I dont touch anything Apple, I prefer Android.

Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
I don't have, or need, a smartphone.
|
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
Nope I hate Apple products, my last 6 phones inc my current have all been Samsung and has served me well.
|
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
Bought the 12 Pro last year, no intention of upgrading there’s not enough of an increase to warrant the cost.
12 pro is axed but you can buy officially refurbished. |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
Work forced an iPhone on me, its crap, battery life pathetic, and you can't really do anything with it. Maybe biased as it just gives me work (!)
Android is far superior. |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
I'll stick with my iPhone 5s (the original model). Does everything I need and cheap enough to replace. Got to have a screw loose to pay around £1k for a phone that'll be outdated within a year.
My iPhone controls almost every electrical item I have at home, from every light we have, TV, AV, Fans, and a remote controller for Roland keyboard etc. So there is a lot you can do with them even with the older models. Yes you could do the same with an Android phone but at that price point it's going to be a lot slower and a chore to use. |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
My current phone (Samsung Tocco lite) has served me well but the display is dying. I wouldn't touch Apple products with a bargepole. I'll be getting the Samsung Galaxy A12. Much more reasonably priced.
Currently on PAYG but the new phone will probably need an all you can eat data contract. |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
No - I compare what my requirements are, versus spec, versus price.
My last couple of phones have been Android (OnePlus 1, 3, 7 Pro), and I only replace them when they stop working. My wife’s phone is a different matter - she’s used to the Apple environment (iPad & iPhone), and trying to get her to change to Android would be counterproductive; like me, only changes phones when they stop working. I like Apple, and had iPhones when someone else (work) paid, but when it’s my money, I’m fussier. I’m technology agnostic - I have a Windows 10 PC, iPad Pro, and OnePlus7 Pro (Android) phone. |

l much prefer Samsung personally.

Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
I think it's partly a generation thing as I really don't like Apple products I find them over priced and dumbed down. My "kids" however swear by Apple and think i'm an old fart for sticking with Samsung. Each to their own I guess.

Sadly, my trusty little Samsung J700 finally passed away, so I needed a new phone. I've had a Android Tablet for many years, so decided to try a Samsung phone (A41). Technically its a Smart Phone, but I dont really use it as such. I dont browse the internet, I have data disabled by default (just wifi when at home). I think Ive enabled it once while out, to check google maps. Ive installed one app, to count steps, as I thought that would be fun to see. My daughter will get to play with the new iPhone 13, shes an apple engineer  |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
I am forced to use Iphone at work and i hate the ruddy thing. I much prefer my Samsung Note 9.

I would have gone for the 12 Pro but seriously thinking the 13 Pro now. Never got on with Android devices. Find them a rela pain and having a million more settings makes it a lot more confusing. They've also always got real slow over time in my opinion. I like the fact IOS just does what it needs it to do. Easy to use, easy to navigate. As someone who loves tkaing photos, the camera is very imnportant to me too. |

TBH you are better off buying a proper camera, I bought a Nikon D5600 with 18-55 mm kit lens in 2019 for £650 then later a Tamrom 18-400 mm telephoto lens for £650. I have taken some superb photos, I will when I get a job buy a lens up to 600 mm or 800 mm, but then you are looking up to £2,000. |

I own a Nikon DSLR with 18-105 and 70-300 lenses but it's not everyday that you have your big SLR at hand for that quick pic. I can;'t exactly fit it in my pocket. I use the SLR when going out for the intention of photography but also like to have my phone too. Both devices can achieve results. |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
No, i have a Samsung S20 FE 5G which is a fantastic phone with a good camera and screen for the £500 i paid, basically it's perfect so why pay silly money?

Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
I think my 12 Pro is about £75 a month on an all you can eat plan, however, thankfully work pick up the bill.
I don’t mind Apple kit, modern windows laptops are getting just as difficult to tear down. The M1 Apple silicon is very good and already has intel & amd deeply worried, the next iteration even more so. |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
Huawei Honor 9 Lite here, I used Samsung phones for years. Never had an iPhone, but do have a 12.9" iPad Pro 2020 which is a good bit of kit, especially if you like creating art. Procreate is amazing.
If I had to buy another smartphone, I'd be looking at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro or something similar. |
Re: Will you be buying the new iPhone13?
I currently have an iPhone 11 Max Pro, so due an upgrade. Ordered the iPhone 13 Max Pro with 512Gb storage because it's actually less per month than my current phone (although I could move to SIM only).
The 13 Pro Max doesn't have anything massive over the 11 that I need. Sure, there's LIDAR. There's new lenses and as with Halcyon, I too like my photography, but for times when I don't have the DLSR with me, the iPhone does an ok job. No real comparison to a DSLR, but for a regular print out to pop on a shelf in a frame, most people won't notice the imperfections. However, batteries will deteriorate over time, so a couple of years between upgrades is fine (thus most people complain about company given iPhones as they are usually older models and most often, already used for a few years). a £1200 phone does sound a lot, but I will use it every single day for a lot of things. If I break that down, it costs me about 1.65 a day over the 2 years I will use it. This is how I tend to work out if something is worth the money to me. I'm happy with that. It's less than a coffee a day and less than a takeaway a week, which most people will happily pay. We don't tend to bother with takeaways very often. Holidays however... £3000 for a week away pains me. Massively. I cannot justify that kind of spend, but the wife can. It's not all about me, so it gets paid. She gets her holiday, I can buy a phone I like. |
