Adverts that make you change channel or hit mute

What Adverts that make you change channel or hit mute?

My dad it's the Go Compare advert.

For me, it those "Parents" in the Internet Matters ad, God they pee me off.

I pray that they are just actors and not real parent.

That one certainly gets on my nerves and lately its been these funeral adverts.

tend to swerve most adverts by watching On Demand and using AdGuard so I guess my answer is all of them

Re: Adverts that make you change channel or hit mute

On the rare occasions I sit down to watch TV, my viewing experience lasts approximately 8 minutes.

This is the time taken to flick through the numerous channels available, most of which are showing adverts no matter what the time is . . if I do chance upon something that slightly gets my interest, adverts turn up 2 minutes later. *click*

All adverts get my blood pressure rising.

99% of radio stations also don't interest me for the same reason.

Re: Adverts that make you change channel or hit mute

How much time have you got? In no particular order:

1. The £3/month adverts etc.
2. The funeral adverts including life insurance.
3. The Rrchenault adverts.
4. Adverts where the cars drive on the right.
5. Peleton.

A small starter.

That bloody Peleton advert is as pervasive as the damn cyclists now infesting the roads around Wokingham.

As I've mentioned before, adverts really annoy me.
I rarely watch TV but her indoors has it on for the usual soap crap and tea time quiz stuff.
I'm almost ashamed to say that one does actually catch my attention - a car ad I think - simply because someone had the excellent taste to use 'Aphrodites Child - The Four Horsemen' as the soundtrack :D

I'll never buy the car, don't even know what it is, but I have that song in my head for ages afterwards :D

If they’re on their Pelotons, they’re not on the roads… ;)

Win all round. :D

Nah. When they're on the road, they're not on their Peletons but will be.

Are the the ones pedaling like crazy, doing 27 MPH and checking the app on their phone every 5 seconds . . until they hit the parked car :D

I wish. They are the ones who:

1. Go fast when you need them to go slow;
2. Go slow when you need them to hurry up;
3. That ride slowly two abreast across Sonning Bridge;
4. That put themselves at the front of the traffic light queue.

They had to recall all the treadmills as the tilted ones were consuming small children and the screens kept falling off and hitting people.

Probably why they're pushing the other ones so hard.

God bless the BBC and the licence fee then ! Some campaign for that to be full of adverts too.

I love Classic FM, but its ruined by adverts.

I'd rather have rubbish ads than rubbish content that the BBC dishes up.

Why do you guys even watch TV in this way? Advertisements are time wasting, boring and annoying. We all have VM boxes, allowing us to watch what we want, when we want, free of commercials. And yet….

and of course you're quite happy to pay VM a fair wedge every month for the privilege of delivering those adverts to your home, which you then ignore :D

I pay VM a fair wedge each month so I can watch Nat Geo Wild and ignore the ads (esp. Peleton).

Quote from MHRA: MediFacts is a television advert format used by several pharmaceutical companies in the over-the-counter medicines sector.

Regulation 289 of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 prohibits advertising for a medicine that refers to a recommendation by scientists or healthcare professionals. Where a spokesperson provides scientific information or suggests benefits of a treatment in advertising, companies should take active steps to ensure that viewers are not given the impression by words or context that the speaker is an independent scientist or healthcare professional.
Just in-case anybody was under the impression that "Medifacts" was some kind of independent organisation. Just a marketing tool. :rolleyes:

What I meant was that I pay for the content. I am not given the choice of whether to get the commercials as well, which are for the benefit of the commercial TV stations, not Virgin Media.

In the fullness of time, I hope that this can be rectified by way of SVOD. Not long to go now (fingers crossed). Hopefully, all the players owned by the main commercial stations will have an ad-free subscription option soon, and live streaming availability such as the BBC i-Player provides would be useful, too.

My ultimate goal is to subscribe to the terrestrial channel players and other streamers and ditch the TV channels. We are nearly there now.

Consuming small children, the smug cow cheerleading in the studio kept that quiet and just like that you're done, it's eaten both the kids and the kitten

So those that pay for the add free version will have to find something else to do when the ITV add free paid for service pauses while the free version shows the adverts half way through the 7.30pm release of Coronation Street. Maybe ITV can fill the intermission with re-runs of the old public information films. I always liked the one with the grim reaper and the kids trying fish the football out of the pond....

Yes - car adverts with LHD vehicles are annoying. On the other hand:

The music for the linked ad is exceptionally good. Where do they find these obscure singles?

I don’t know how they would work it. Similar to how All4+ works it, I presume.

Generally we record channels with ads, but sometimes there is no choice.

I was that annoyed by the Deliveroo one with the northern accent woman handing out food from a range of take aways that I complained to OFCOM that it wasn't representative of a delivery.

They upheld it too.

Anything with Meerkats.

Peloton.
