Starting from tomorrow, those over 70 can apply for a free DAB radio to help them get through this difficult time. It is essential that our older members of society are kept informed of the rapidly changing developments regarding the coronavirus, this will also go some way to alleviate loneliness too:

Unfortunately, it looks like it might be as if says that the scheme 'is running across all 39 BBC local radio stations in England and is aimed at connecting communities'.

We will find out for sure tomorrow.

Edit: Maybe you could try applying via the link that Hugh has supplied and see if it accepts a Welsh address??

Three around here timeshare a space on the local DAB multiplex.

It looks like it's being fronted by a charity that is going to manually screen the applications submitted to its website. I'd be surprised if they exclude addresses in Wales, Scotland or NI.

On the contrary, it’s great that everyone is finally forced to see just how ordinary and unimpressive Sturgeon is once she’s denied the chance to govern via stage managed separatist stunts. She’s a one trick pony, and her one trick is head-butting mid air while giving an affected half laugh and blaming everything on Tories. Now all she has to do is actually exercise the devolved powers she has, instead of grandstanding, she just looks like a provincial family solicitor reading a particularly difficult will. Ordinary. Not a leader. Forced through gritted teeth to deploy the immense crisis management resources that are only available to Scotland right now because she lost in 2014. Everybody in Scotland should be thanking whatever power they believe in that the SNP lost in 2014, because right now we’d have far bigger problems than whether a charity based in England will ship free radios to Scottish pensioners.

Quite. Though she's better at forming sentences than the PM. Not hard that though.

I think those in the south only see a tiny bit of her, and the coverage is very narrow, so they get an inaccurate impression. Whereas up here you see her all the time and know her better (as much as you can know someone who isn't family or a friend) as a result.

The thing is, everyone I know over 70s has a DAB radio already. That's a small sample obviously, so I hope those that are interested and most in need of one find out about the offer.
