Email Issue

Hi everyone I am new here and I seem to have a problem and hope that you may be able to help, my problem being :- When I send an email to a friend it gets returned saying,
nosmo-king@hotmail.com, but I have been told it should read,

nosmo-king@outlook.com, if this is the case how do I getting it changed or who do I contact to report it to, any help would be appreciated.

Paul 27-01-2020 15:26

Re: Email Issue

Not really sure what you mean.

What message exactly do you get ?

Hugh 27-01-2020 15:28

Re: Email Issue

If you could copy (or cut/paste) the actual error message, that would be helpful.

I have an hotmail.com account, and all my email gets to me.

Re: Email Issue

Are you addressing it to a hotmail.com address or outlook.com address?
Have you tried the address you've been told it should be?

Bless...

The nosmo-king email address seemed to me to be an alias for the purpose of demonstrating the problem, not a real address... ;)

I removed the real email addresses - but thanks for your helpful comment*.

tropwenman, putting the email address on an open forum means that the recipient may get a lot of spam - that's why I removed both the sender and recipient email addresses.

(I knew iit was a play on "no smoking", as there was a record in the charts in 74 with one of the artistes called "Nosmo King")

(*obviously, my 45 years in IT, starting in Comms Intelligence in the RAF, then working my way up from Trainee Programmer to IT Director in a University, gave me no IT knowledge or experience in any way, shape, or form).

Then with all that IT knowledge why haven't you solved the OP's issue in any way, shape or form?

I still haven't quite understood the OP's issue though.

Neither has Hugh, so much intellegence wasted...

You both need a rethink especially Hugh.

I would be interested in reading your solution to tropwenman's problem pip as you obviously have a far greater understanding of the issue than either Hugh or spiderplant.

I know Hugh is ex RAF but I'll give a further clue. Lad REME @ hotmail.com. Let me know when the penny drops.

I always find first posts with links a tad suspect and the no smoking address didn't help.

Love reading this HOWEVER I have no idea what you are trying to say . Noticed that "old" tec guys think they know it all. Often they don't .My last problem was solved by a fourteen year old after his dad an old tec failed!

They were not site links, the forum converts email addresses into clickable links that will open your email client (if you have one).

As to certain members in this topic, they have been warned about about unnecessary behaviour, so lets get back on topic.

Thanks Paul for explaining the above.

I only contacted the team to be on the safe side as being such a timorous beastie I steer clear of any links, especially those given by new members in their first posts, other than those given by members of longer standing.

I will keep reading this thread to see if, hopefully, a solution appears. :)

Re: Email Issue

So the first question (if this a genuine query) is if the sender sends to <address>@outlook.com does the mail reach the intended recipient? I'm thinking it will.

My theory would be this is to do with Microsoft migrating hotmail.com to outlook.com (this has been ongoing for some time) and the use of accepted domains in their tenant.
