Horse & Country pulling the plug on satellite

Horse & Country are broadcasting announcements that they are closing on Sky from 31 January 2020.

Their free channel will be transferring to the H&C app, with a £5.99 subscription for additional “channels” & VOD content.

There is no mention of the service on Virgin Media, which will hopefully continue. H&C also broadcasts on several of LGs European cable networks.

Viewers will be able to choose from a free version of the service, or access a premium "Plus" version of the service for £5.99 a month, which will contain more live sport. The premium service is also available via Amazon Prime Video and via cable on Virgin TV.

Is it still on Virgin (don't care) however if it is what's the concern ?

The OP's concern was that H&C might disappear from Virgin Media. It isn't, so 'nuff said, surely.

Quite. There are currently 2 million people that either ride or own horses in the UK & the sector economy is worth around £4.8 billion a year, so its not a lack of interest that is causing the changes

Maybe the Channel is not financially stable or it could have been a spur of the moment decision ? :erm:

I queried this today with H&C and they said thet not only is it staying on VM - there will be no subscription added to it either. So if you currently receive it on VM it will continue at no extra cost.

Interesting, but where will they get their feed from if it's coming off satellite?

The satellite at 1W? By using IPTV?

Told you so freedom to express an opinion here does not exist. Unless you say what the powers that be want you to say!

Unless I dreamt it Corbyn was trounced in the recent election - I Thought we were in GB not Russia or China

Freedom of speech etc.

You have the absolute right and freedom to set up your own forum and post whatever you like on it ... nobody here is stopping you.

Meanwhile, Cable Forum is a privately owned and operated forum dedicated to topic-based discussion, with a team of volunteer moderators who ensure those discussions stay reasonably on track. Feel free to phone the UN if you find this all a bit oppressive and see how far you get. ;)

The same way they get all the other channels that have been removed from satellite. Via a fibre optic link direct into Langley. One advantage of having a master headend feeding all the others. The channel is carried widely in the Netherlands on cable services, where it launched in HD in 2018.

Perhaps HD is coming to Virgin as well???

Might get a better then. The VM Talking Pictures picture is far superior to the Sky picture.
