Issues accessing a website on VM connection

I am having issues accessing www.neowin.net on my VM connection it is painfully slow loading pages and when i do ping neowin.net in CMD all i get is request timed out.

If using a UK VPN i have a normal speedy access although the ping test also times out, so i would be grateful if some of you can try and let me know how speedy the site is your end. :)

Working fine for me in the midlands. Maybe it is a routing issue on VM's end the VPN is bypassing it.

I have only ever had this problem once and there wasn't anything I could do about it. It was resolved about two days later but how it gets identified and who fixes it I don't know.

I've had it about 2 days, hopefully it'll get sorted eventually, so for now VPN on.

Does traceroute give any clues where the problem is?

Worked for me in Chrome and Firefox. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies as it may be bringing up a stored copy of the site that first caused the loading problems ?

Working fine here Snoopz, have to agree it sounds like a routing issues.

Related to those issues you had with your TBB graph not being able to ping?

Is that the same as the CMD ping command?

As I just get a timeout when doing that so no useful data.

It doesn't matter which browser I use but if connected via VPN it is working fast.

Will try again Sunday evening as away for the weekend.

It's similar, but shows every step of the route, so you can see where the packets are getting lost. Like this:

Quote:

$ traceroute www.neowin.net
traceroute: Warning: www.neowin.net has multiple addresses; using 5.10.17.165

The 15th hop shows it reaching neowin's network. The subsequent hops within their network do fail for me, but they might be blocking traceroute.

The command is sometimes called tracert instead.

Tracert It uses ping underneath but gives much more data:

Looks like it's down at the moment.

Loading fine here still, chances are their routers are configured to not respond to pings.

Routing looks a bit weird.

Access seems back to its normal speed now, but this traceroute doesn't look good?

Re: Issues accessing a website on VM connection

It's fine. It's normal for some intermediate routers to not respond. But you are consistently getting to neowin and back in 20ms, which is good.

We'll probably never know where the problem was

General Maximus 28-07-2019 20:11

Re: Issues accessing a website on VM connection

my trace route is pretty much the same as yours so I wouldn't worry
