What deals did you get on Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon is very popular for online shopping so did you get any awesome deals?

I bought 2 Amazon Firesticks 4K at 50% off and they are the best streaming devices I have so far used after side loading what i need.

Nothing this time, though we buy something through Amazon most weeks ... under-bed storage crates were today’s essential yet mundane purchase. In fact I’m mildly annoyed by Prime Day because they’re blaming it for not guaranteeing delivery until Friday. I could really do with them tomorrow so I can get a job done.

Renewed our annual prime membership for £59 instead of the usual £79

Not much. I think Prime Day is overhyped. Generally I have a rule that irrespective of discount I won't get anything that I would get anyway and that tends to end up with me not buying anything.

I have too much crap lying around already anyway.

None, Prime, is a rip off. Never paid for postage from Amazon, and it still comes within a day or 2. I know it has extra gimmicks but nothing worth my while. Had it for free over Xmas, which was a slight bonus, then cancelled then they extended for a month and i still cancelled. Also blagged Audible free for 3 months aswell, which they also extended when i tried to cancel. Its the only way to play these schemes. A continuous monthly payment, which they hope you'll forget, is everything to them.

I wouldn't call it a rip off, when you get Prime TV, unlimited photo upload, some streaming music and deals like Prime Day, but if you wouldn't benefit from any of that then no point paying for it.

What i've saved getting these 4K sticks nearly pays for a years subscription.

Typical of Mr K in seeing the negative of Prime.;)

£79 a year is very good value especially when one has a fair sized household.

Having same day delivery with Prime is a life saver when your kids mention that they need a costume for school the next day...

This year, I bought a new set of Tefal non-stick pans for £80. They're now £160 so happy with that (well as a happy as you can be when you realised your 'treat' was a set of saucepans)

I do both - support local butchers and tradespeople, and also shop online for the things they can't offer me (bought Google Mesh Wifi 3 pack on Prime Day).

Two weeks ago the Wife bought some trousers online from Debenhams (the store is a 3 minute walk away)

They arrived the next day, and were found to be the wrong size.

She walked across to the store to exchange them.

My head exploded.

There is more then one factor affecting the High Street as we have a archaic business rates system for starters then there is high rents which are being charged for many of these shops by inflexible landlords.

On top of that car parking in many city centres is expensive and it can be quite a hassle to find somewhere to park.

Etc , etc , etc....

Parking charges are terrible in Cambridge, just parking for up to 5hrs costs £19!!! where as the next City closest to me only charges £5 for up to 5hrs.

Boris is going to reduce business rates and there are already plans in train to protect and update our High Streets.

As for car parks - you mean you don't catch the bus into town, Den? No wonder it's been hot lately! :D

Strange the previous leaders played lip service to the High Street problems and it remains to be seen whether Johnson will change that.

We have a mobility car but trying to park is still a considerable problem in many City Centres and depending on where you go parking charges can range from fair to extortionate.

Amazon Prime and yet you are complaining about less than a fiver a month?

This forum gets more perverse every day! What exactly do you think you are paying for your TV licence every year?

It is not fair or appropriate to compare Johnson to previous leaders. You and I know that he is a one-off, and therefore you must judge him on what he accomplishes as PM.

Do we really need to bring politics to this thread also? :(

Chris 20-07-2019 09:52

No, we don’t.

This is not a political thread, if you don’t want to talk about online shopping bargains (particularly with reference to Amazon) please post elsewhere.

If you do just make sure you don't have any form of add blocker running when you do the CLICK from topcashback to the site you want to buy something from as it probably won't track.

I spent £11 for the other half at peacocks yesterday and it has tracked at £0.64 cashback.
