Nearly all applicants for US visas will have to submit their social media details under newly adopted rules.

Personally, I couldn't care less. I have no wish to go to Trump's America.

I've never had a Facebook account/profile/whatever the damn thing's called. I've never used Twitter and don't ever intend to. This and Fireflyfans.net are the only message boards I frequent these days. No, I think any possible visit even as a tourist (because how long will it be before this applies to tourists as well? Thin end of the wedge...) will have to wait until the current nonsense, i.e. Trump's presidency, is consigned to the dustbin of American history where it belongs. |
Re: US adopt strict rules for Visa applicants
On an unrelated note can I just say that Trump is a great guy who really knows what he is doing?

This is nothing really that new....
...but any excuse to have a bash @ Trump, I guess. A British Couple were denied entry in 2012 (During Obama's Presidency) for tweeting they were looking forward to absolutely destroying America. What they meant was have a good time, U.S did not see it this way and treated them as a terrorist threat with that single tweet. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16810312 Quote:

I suspect it's not Trump-originated legislation, more a reaction to the scale of social media around these days and the costs involved. |
Re: US adopt strict rules for Visa applicants
Last year, our working immigration team recommended that anyone who traveled to the US has some kind of social media profile somewhere to aid travel to the US. This included ESTA applications which do have an optional section for social media profiles.
Basically, you you do not exist on social media, that immediately raises some red flags at Homeland Security. |

If anyone desperately wants to go to live in America, they could always delete selected posts on Facebook (not sure if you can do this with the others) or ask forums to delete any posts that might be troublesome. |

People not being happy about this should undergo either the Global Entry program or DV clearance THEN they would have something to not be happy about

Mind you, one of my work buddies is a US citizen and getting in to the UK sounds like a right pain too, and really expensive in terms of visa costs |
