Tesco to close its call centre in Wales

Slightly old news but I just needed to comment:

Loss of more jobs in Wales, Cardiff... poor people.

https://www.theguardian.com/business...cardiff-dundee

As for the Tesco's moto: EVERY LITTLE HELPS.

I say stuff Tesco... I am shopping at the German stores from no on.

People suspect a bit of incentive has passed their way via the Scottish parliament. When that runs out they will no doubt start sniffing about for another.

By that logic a) Tesco (or any other UK company) would never be able to close anything anywhere and b) you'll be supporting foreign owned company which are ultimately taking profits out of the UK. Not very joined up...

Re: Tesco to close its call centre in Wales

After eating a few meals at a friends house that had meat from those german stores I'm glad we don't shop at them as the quality is well below what we normally eat and we don't buy the greatest meat where we shop. How about going to another british supermarket instead of tesco rather then give your money to a foreign company.

Most meat from Lidl and ALDI is UK sourced, Tesco not so much.

Personally when it comes to fresh meat we have always favoured Sainsbury's.

Well i can tell when I'm eating meat from aldi and lidl but as we don't shop at tesco I can't comment on their standard but like Den the meat from sainsburys is very good even their discount line and definately better.

Sad indeed Den, I worked at a family butchers part time when at school all those years ago.

Everything you can get from a supermarket from fresh meat to cooked meats were all produced in the shop. Happy days long gone.

l remember decades ago when we used to go to the local butcher with our mother and now all the small local shops that were there have been replaced by two foreign supermarkets.

Yep there was a slaughterhouse a couple of miles away which my farming friend took me to once when l was younger but thankfully we never saw any of the gory stuff as he was there to pick up certain cuts of meat for all of us.

Oh for the days of local butchers, greengrocers and tobacconists not so much the product of the latter but the aroma they had but time waits for no one and all in one supermarkets are progress just doesn't mean it's good progress.

Butchers still have a place in cities I think, enough demand exists. I would agree that meat from a butchers is better than supermarkets, especially when the latter pump it with water etc

Some modern things are very good especially technology but how l yearn for some things to be like they were in the old days.

And the supermarkets package some of their meat very cleverly where it might look from the outside its a nice piece of beef wherever its several pieces rolled into one.

not just supermarkets i bought a tray of rump steaks from a butchers looked like a real bargain only to find they had put a slightly smaller tray inside the larger outside one the inner tray was upside down adding thickness to the appearance of the steaks lying on top of it [dirty trick ] :(

I lost my ondigital job in Bedford due to Wales offering favourable incentives to move there, swings and roundabouts, at least the jobs are staying in this country rather than going to India

I'm lucky that in my local high street we still have an independent butchers, bakers, fishmongers and a real hardware store plus two independent opticians and the only independent bookshop in the entire town/area. Mind we are infested with charity shops,hairdressers/barbers and tea shops plus umpteen nicknack grockle shops.

However to get back on topic it's a shame that people are losing jobs in one area but perhaps the alternative chains will step up and provide more jobs as the larger retailers cut back as they lose their market share to those alternative retailers.

Obviously from where you live you can't be that far away from places like Gosport , Fareham and villages like Stubbington and Titchfield , etc , etc.

Anyway back on topic as well yes it would be nice if some of these smaller alternative chains would come forward and provide more jobs as personally l love the more personal friendly way they talk to their customers and treat them as yes its a little bit dearer sometimes but often the product and service is better.
