New bundles
Just noticed that all additional outlets are Tivo now. Vip comes with two tivos
|
Re: New bundles
Indeed. You can no longer choose to get a V HD.

Re: New bundles
The VM press release says M+ is not longer being sold (as is More TV too) but on the website the channels mentioned under new Mix TV label seem to be the M+ selection. So the press release says M+ is being discontinued and not renamed but the channel listing (such as it confusingly is) seems to suggest it is just a renaming of M+. The way the channel info is laid out on the VM website is poor though so it's hard to check or compare. There's not even a list of All Channels in a particular package like there used to be. It was much better when VM website had a table with ticks showing which channels were in which package, each in a separate column.

Re: New bundles
Mix is a new TV pack
You can see the differences via the channel guide PDF at www.virginmedia.com/help/channelguide |
Re: New bundles
Looks like VM sites are hitting meltdown with 503 errors on every page I try to get into. I managed to get a look at the new bundles but am disappointed to see that there doesn't appear to be a bundle that combines Phone/100 Mbps with 230 TV channels.

Does the 'free' M pack still exist?
|
Re: New bundles
TV M is now Player
https://my.virginmedia.com/customer-...v-changes.html More and M+ still exist for those on them, but are now legacy TV packs. Mix is a new one. |
Re: New bundles
Shouldnt my bill reduce? As I'm VIP + Extra Tivo.
Take it I will have to phone but currently have a 20 pound off for another 12 months which they will want to remove |
Re: New bundles
We have the old VIP package with a V+ box and 500gb TiVo paying around £140 a month. Looking at the bundles the new VIP package is £120 with a 1gb TiVo and a 500gb TiVo. Is it just a simple phone call to get changed over? Also would people advise to wait till the new TiVo is out?

OK, then it's also here http://www.virginmedia.com/shop/tv/channels.html - under 'Check out the channels you'll enjoy'. You'll need to click the option to expand.

Re: New bundles
So with the tivos as standard, it will be worth swapping to the VIP bundle once loyality discounts have ended?
We currently have Big Kahuna Sports and Movies Bundle everything in HD with 3 tivo 500gb boxes, 200mb broadband. We also have Multi Talk 1000 (which is £4 a month or something.) Currently we are paying £134.24 but with a discount £18.25. So that once the discount ends that is £152.49 . (plus any cost rises upto then) What we could do is go on the VIP Bundle (Swap out a 500gig box) and then have an additional tivo box, that multi talk for cheaper when the discount is ended factoring in the £49.99 for the 1tb box. I make it (correct me if I'm wrong please) £19 phone , £101 VIP, £4 multi talk 1000 , £7.50 for the third tivo? Total = 131.50 (plus the 1 gig tivo swap out which will probably be £49.99) ( £135.66 with the cost for the year contract with the 49.99 facted in over the year ) Is this correct or I have missed something? |

Re: New bundles
The price for new additional TiVo boxes has reduced from today. It was £11.50 per additional TiVo per month, it's now £7.50.
Any existing additional TiVo stays at its existing monthly fee. |
Re: New bundles
So is it just a phone call away to go from the old VIP package to the new one at a reduced price of £120 from around £140?

Re: New bundles
Generally the only bundle that include an additional box as part of the core bundle is the VIP bundle (and most of the previous versions too). Although there have been some exceptions to this in the past.
Most additional boxes on other bundles are add-ons so are independent of the core deal. Even if you update your bundle to one of the new ones, the additional boxes are separate, which is why any pricing stays as it is. |

We have 3 x 500gig tivos. the vip deal has a 1tb tivo and 500 gig one which I assume triggers the VIP bundle. With the bundle selection in the store it keeps at the package before that if you have 2 500 gig tivos (and thus more expensive ). I guess I will have to wait for my contract to end (its next year anyway) and then go through retentions to be put on a deal like the VIP. ( I guess retentions would put you on that pricing structure at the very least with discounts etc.) The problem I have is I remember when tivo was £5 extra account and when you got an extra tivo it triggered the new pricing structure where you paid per tivo. Now its going the other way, with a reduction in cost but it seems you cannot get the pricing reduction for any extra box which is not in the package. |

Re: New bundles
There is no general reason why you couldn't, although you'll only be able to confirm the situation by speaking to VM directly.

I blame UK TV for starting this stupid naming system when they introduced 'Dave' as a channel name! What could be simpler for deciding packages in order of increased content: Medium (M), a bit more M+ Large (L) etc. No, let's confuse people by using names that do not suggest any rising order |
Re: New bundles
My view is that the idea of the change is that the TV pack names now align to the bundles (excluding VIP)
Before it was quite difficult to understand which TV pack you'd get in the 'Big Fun' etc. |

Re: New bundles
And at the time it was. Both ntl and Telewest had completely different names for a range of TV, Broadband and Phone packages.
So there was a need to introduce a consistent naming structure across the combined company. But that was over 9 years ago. |

Give them a ring and you should get a deal. ---------- Post added at 22:31 ---------- Previous post was at 22:27 ---------- On a separate note, I don't seem to be able to watch Sky Sports or Sky Cinema on my phone, iPad or laptop. Phoned up and was told it's because of an issue with the move to new bundle names. Anyone else having the same problem? |

Re: New bundles
Phoned up for a new remote yesterday for one of the Tivos and to renew my upfront line rental. Operator told me i could move from Big Daddy to Full House Movies and Sport and my bill will go down from £107.50 to £87.87 fixed for 12 months for exactly the same things.
Thought it was a good idea for 3 Tivos, 200mb broadband and M package phone calls, waiting on the paperwork for written confirmation. |

why must they keep changing these names! Im on big kahuna, one tivo box, two V HD boxes, broadband 200. Should i call up or not?? |
Re: New bundles
I got an email saying full house is the new name for TV XL.
It's all very confusing when they have a revamp, best to check the website, find a package you're happy with and compare it to what you're paying. That's what I normally do and I normally get a good enough deal |
