MPs To Move Out Of Houses Of Parliament

http://news.sky.com/story/mps-to-mov...ament-10524886

I am totally shocked by this news. And the costs. Where are they going to find all this money from - TAXPAYERS will foot the bill as usual

Each Summer recess, Contractors move into the Palace of Westminster, and clean the place up. I should know. I work there many years ago for a Hygiene company.

There is always work going on there. Even the clock is getting a clean.
So l cannot understand it.
Whenever, you go round Parliament Square, there is always work going on.

So has the building being neglected to a point, and Now MPs, are getting worried as they cannot getting cheap booze. And glad, Fullers have banned them using the local Pub.

And what the biggest laugh is. They state Sharia Law doesn't operate in this country. They cannot drink alcohol at the Dept. of Health, as it is controlled by Sharia Law

From a link in the OP's link
Quote:

The roof was built from cast iron - cutting edge technology at the time, but now corroded and leaking.

Stonework has been seriously damaged over the years - the old London smog ate away at the walls and in many places they have never been repaired.

Underground passages that were designed for ventilation now house miles of cables - electricity; heating and telephone lines are all crammed in together.
Arthur, working for a cleaning company does not make you a subject matter expert in the maintenance and restoration of Victorian edifices.

The building was bought and controlled by an Islamic bond scheme which forbids the sale of alcohol on the premises. What arthur said wasn't a million miles of the mark

To clarify something for you all. IF you read many newspapers it tells you in there. PLUS if you read The Sun on Sunday, its on page 7. bottom of the page under ' NO DRINK ORDER MPs WITH NEW HQ.

When l post a link, l have read the report. I am NOT that stupid

There's your problem - it's in the Sun on Sunday...;)

btw, Fullers did not ban them from using their pub...

Re: MPs To Move Out Of Houses Of Parliament

Hugh. They would NOT let them use the Pub. According to Newspapers, they were going to take it over. But Fullers refused

The building is owned by an islamic company. There are free to impose any rules they wish, or are you objecting to owners of a property being allowed to impose rules on that property?

Put it another way. I don't know your views on weed, but assuming you did not like it, would you allow a tenant in a house you owned to grow his or her own plants? If not, do you think they should be allowed to anyway, and you have no say? I ask because that appears to be exactly what you are saying. You appear to be saying that the MPs should be allowed to drink alcohol regardless of the wishes of the building's owners.

To be fair, weed is illegal but alcohol isn't. Strange method of argument on your part

Having said that, I'll change the argument..

alanbjames, would you feel the same if, say, you were a vegetarian or vegan, then leased your house to a meat eater, but told them not to eat meat? Do you feel they should automatically have the right to go against your wishes like that?

You could use smoking or pets to make the same argument ,either way it's the privilege of the owners to set conditions

The amount of times you've complained about MP's and their expensive drinking habits funded by the tax payer (in your mind) i would have thought the last place you would want MP's to set up shop is a pub

Actually yes, if you knowingly rent it out to someone you know eats meat then you can hardly be surprised they do so ... (and what harm is it doing you).

That awful certainty that you're aiding and abetting the consumption of delicious animal protein and the propagation of mouthwatering cooking smells.

So you feel a landlord has no right to place limits on what goes on in his or her properties?

These days, no they dont.
You cannot set rules based on religion, or sex, or race, so why should what you eat or drink be any different.
Either you allow landlords to set rules or you dont. These days "dont" seems to be the only option.

Re: MPs To Move Out Of Houses Of Parliament

I don't think a landlord should be able to make rules of the tenants eating habits (within reason) anyway.
