Well, no news for months on end, according to MB's post. However, the good news is that MB has plenty of DNP notices he can sit on until VM decide to tell us about them.

The emphasis now is on new VOD services, according to Mike Fries himself. Last August he said:

'The amount of money Liberty Global spend on linear channel carriage will decline and shift to online rights, digital rights, On Demand rights, and SVOD rights.'

The next worthwhile addition I think will be Amazon, although it would be interesting to see if we get Pluto TV.

Well the director of digital entertainment has said there is a new TiVo ( now been pushed back ) to winter 2016/2017 so that seems to be plan, I suspect Amazon will wait till new TiVo and what is Pluto tv

It was, but I hope it's managed better if they do this again.

I remember many people being unhappy that they had not been notified of the TiVo competition. When they complained, they were accused of sour grapes because they didn't win one!

This was not the case at all, they were unhappy that they had been denied the chance of winning one.

The article clarifies, rather than confuses. The original information we had about the new Tivo was either incorrect or has been revised.

I went into our Virgin Media shop today to ask whether they had been provided with any information about the availability of the new Tivo and the guy I spoke to told me that it would be coming out towards the end of this year, but no official date had been given for its launch yet.

I think that is the best information you are going to get for the time being.

Don't like to say this, but VM don't seem to bother about what customers want. All they want to push is +1 channels - BUT, these are repeat channels and hour later or less.

I spoke with a Sky rep today. And they plan to bring out a new sales gimmick to challenge for more VM subsribers .

They offered me a great deal today, but my wife said that she will think about it.

And for her to say that, there must be something wrong with VM. Could be the fact VM keep pushing up the price.

Enough is enough.

I heard that the TV show 'Kingdom' may be coming to VM. Is that the Kingdom, who is a solicitor ?

Kingdom is a drama set in the world of mma (mixed martial arts) it isn't too bad tbf.

+1 channels are nice but not really a necessity… the only channel I really want that's missing at the moment is Spike, and really that's just for repeats of shows like Police Interceptors that I like to watch if nothing else is on.

truTV would have been nice to have back when they were showing Conan, but they've dropped it now unfortunately.

What I'd really like to see is a HD swap similar to Sky. There are now so many HD simulcasts that it would really be nice to hide the SD channels and have the HD version in their place.

I have thought that for a while where if there is a HD and SD version of channel to turn off the SD version. Maybe this forum should be renamed what's happening at virgin media 2016 as there is nothing really coming soon

Generally I would agree with you but I think those who record a lot like the lower PVR hard disk space that SD recordings use.

So all we know coming up this year

QVC Beauty/Extra
New TiVo
New Apps and steaming App
Nearly forgot more price rises

Plus:
- Expanded cable network
- Few more local TV stations
- Possible - Additional BBC services for duration of large sporting events, maybe via iPlayer?
- Ad-hoc on-demand eg Kingdom
- Possible - Amazon Prime app. Rumoured to be launching on YouView; if so I think a VM launch would be likely as it shows Amazon's enthusiasm to widen distribution.

An expanded cable network is only public knowledge due to virgins low coverage, local tv is not created by virgin, BBC Iplayer will provide this across all platform

Although you say that, Arthur, you have been saying it for a long time now!

Virgin did make great strides in 2012 and they gave us a lot more channels than we had before at that time.

Virgin have admitted that they have been concentrating more on broadband of late and they will now concentrate more on content. There has been speculation that they may buy back UKTV.

However, what we will get in future is likely to be a combination of tv channels and on demand and streaming services. I am hopeful that we will be getting Amazon within the next 18 months. Kingdom can be found on demand right now.

As far as price rises go, all providers have to put up prices, and in fact the latest one was down to Sky, not Virgin. You must recognise that if Sky puts its prices up, Virgin have to pass them on, they will not provide channels to us at a loss.

Good luck with transferring to Sky. I believe that your experience last time you went over to the other side was less than satisfactory.

Universal Channel HD
E! +1/HD

The list goes on...

And you would actually watch all those channels? Given that Virgin would have to put up prices to give us this long list, maybe you want to think again. No point in having channels for the sake of it.

It's not up to Virgin whether we get AMC or Sky Atlantic until such time as BT and Sky respectively decide that they are prepared to change their attitude towards allowing other platforms to carry those channels.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2

At the end of the day, a survey showed last week that 95% of television watched in the UK is available on Freeview, so squabbling over the fact we don't have QVC Beauty and the likes is irrelevant.
What is the point of expressing disappointment about not having a channel you will probably never watch.

This was not the case at all, they were unhappy that they had been denied the chance of winning one.

I filled in the survey earlier today on the official forums about in particular online offerings and account admin.

It was asking about what offers have I had and taken up etc.
I said as I was on the top package of everything (as I am VIP bundle effectively) then we never and I mean NEVER get any offers of anything so as we don't get the offers like Sky Movies for £1 or Sky Sports season pass or whatever it was then spot prizes of things they offer like the 6 months of Netflix or swap your box for free etc would be nice little sweeteners.

It is a bit sickening if we pay over £100 a month that you can get no offers just because you have the best everything and pay the most.....

Well before that my loyalty package was £108 and my loyalty deal was coming to a end and I was offered £99 and I accepted but he got it wrong and it was £117. They apologised and offered me a new customer deal for £67 plus £17.99 line rental included ( which was wrong) but they decided to honour the deal and I have to call in November to discuss new deal price

Sky sports f1 they might drop the sd or HD to make way for 4K, probably sky sports F1 HD on sky and Virgin but sky sports F1 4K only on sky q despite new TiVo being 4K ready we would still pay same for sports

Let's not worry just yet, it's not 2017 yet and VM's 4K box is still several months off. A more timely concern is VM's lack of 4G for its non-business mobile customers.

I doubt it will launch on virgin for a good reason. The bloody PPV because sky make a good deal of profit, and virgin make some money. So if the existing die hard PPV customers move over to WWE Network then sky and virgin lose money. Well sky would just put up there channels to cover PPV loses therefore hurting none PPV customers and for Virgin as in the words of Stephanie and triple H, that is not what is "best for business ". If you remember sky fought wwe because originally wwe was going to show up to date raw and snack down. Sky stood there ground and that's why it's 4 weeks behind with episodes and originally sky was wanting it on there boxes but I think it was £12.99 a month so can't see it happening, unless Virgin does a deal to protect sky pricing

Not quite as WWE Network is global, sky have no say on it at all, wwe network already shows every ppv live, the reason raw and smackdow aren't live on the network is because WWE get bigmoney from usa network, sky etc so it'd be silly to put them live on the network, this may all change though when contracts come to a end.
SKY has nxt WWE network shows that live.
WWE Network is £9.99p/m regardless of what SKY,VM want.

Hi no disrespect intended but wwe network was delayed in uk over sky, by nearly 6 months. In America there is no delay of raw and smackdown just U.K. Sky did try get some sort of uk exclusive

RAW and smackdow is indeed delayed in the USA on the network, i know this as i use a usa vpn/address for wwe network.
My apologies too you are indeed correct WWE Network was delayed in the uk due to SKYs contract, but now SKY have no say at all as far as i'm aware.
I was with WWE Network from the day it launched in USA and RAW and Smackdown has always had a 4 week delay, most likely due to it being on USA network, well at the time Smackdown was on syfy but now it's on USA network along with RAW.

Again, really the only channel here that has new content worthy of having is Sky Atlantic. The rest are mainly repeat channels, and I've removed the +1 channels because they're not exactly necessary. HD channels are always good to have of course, not faulting that suggestion, although again really the only one of any worth is Universal Channel HD.

One in that list that I do think would be a good addition is Horse & Country TV. Not because I'm interested in that subject myself, but because it is serving a niche that other channels aren't.

AMC isn't coming anytime soon. That's a BT exclusive.

I'd like Horse & Country too. It disappeared from my Freesat box, so I assumed it had closed down.

Here is a sky question they say in a review

" There's plenty of space to store all your "I'll watch that later" shows too. Internal storage is up to 2TB, five times more space than the old Sky+ boxes. Or, in other terms, enough space for hundreds of films and more TV shows than you could possibly ever have time to watch."

But my mum has a 2tb sky box don't make sense

Has your Mum got an up to date Sky+ box as opposed to an old Sky+ box?

The enthusiasm among the group is incredible. I thought I was the only one who had high hopes for VM's future.
