Virgin Media email issues
What is wrong with our VM email system? It doesn't seem very stable at all. It doesn't seem to be able to cope with zipped attachments, I keep being told that the system thinks I am a robot, and today (not for the first time) I can't access my emails at all.
It's just as well I don't have a meeting on today or I would not be a happy bunny! Sorry, rant over! |
Re: Virgin Media email issues
The problem is that it's utter garbage and can't even cover the fundamentals such as support POP3 standards properly. I haven't been able to send smtp mail for about 2 months either but the whole thing has been such a debacle since the migration from Google I've given up on it.
If your work or business has any dependency on it then seriously consider using another platform for your own sanity's sake if anything. |
Re: Virgin Media email issues
We have had no email service since this morning.

Re: Virgin Media email issues
Mailboxes accessible but the little worker elf that delivers your email appears to have died of natural causes.

Re: Virgin Media email issues
one email at 17;10 other than that nothing since yesterday.
On the upside no spam or offers of great riches from the cousin of a Nigerian Prince, just so long as I manage to Western union $200. Why did VM move from Google, that worked. |

Aren't zip attachments blocked by VM? Ditto exe files "to protect us".

Re: Virgin Media email issues
Solve the problem by ditching your VM email and using gmail/outlook. Simples :)

Re: Virgin Media email issues
Well we use all of those as we like to have a range of different email addresses.:)

Re: Virgin Media email issues
The only reason to have an ISP supplied email account is to check if they've advertised an update your contract (so you can leave without penalty) or contact you in the event of a problem you've reported.
No need for sending zip files jpegs or anything else. I have several email addys for different things, not used an ISP one for anything other than the above for over 10 yrs. |
Re: Virgin Media email issues
The emails are back up and running in my area now. I hope they are working on improving the system before much longer. I would have thought that VM would regard the existing deficiencies as an embarrassment.

Re: Virgin Media email issues
Don't use an ISP given email. Ever. Never ever ever.
If you do, you're stuck with that ISP as if you leave, you'll lose your address. If you're using a Virgin email address, migrate over to an outlook.com or gmail address now. Don't put it off because it's a hassle, do it now while you can and not 3 months after you've left Virgin or when Virgin decides to accidentally delete all your mail just because. And yes, that does happen. I personally recommend Gmail. You can have it download mail from your old account and even apply a label so you can identify it. Switch now and for the next lot of months when an email comes in via your Virgin address, go and update your details on whatever site sent it. |
