Danczuk's dalliance?

Quote:

MP Simon Danczuk probed by police after sending 'spanking' texts to teenager

Labour MP Simon Danczuk has been sexting a 17-year-old student telling her she was "cheeky" and that he wanted to "spank" her
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/poli...-teenager.html

Not exactly the 'crime of the century' (not even a crime at all) but why oh why would someone like him with a record of trying to expose child abuse do such a thing? Surely he must have known it would come out sooner of later and seriously affect his reputation for the worse.

Just to inject some conspiracy theory into this, does anything think it's totally out of the question that some very high profile powerful people have a vested interest in seeing him brought down and they might be keen to expose any such 'errors of judgement' on his behalf? Just a thought... :erm:

... and he's now been suspended from the Labour party. I don't suppose Corbyn and his fellow loonies will be shedding many tears...

Her twitter account no longer exists.

honeypot I agree, or at the very least another sad example of the 'me' culture, most of the exchanges seemed to be her leading him on judging from the screengrabs as seen here.

She'll be getting an agent soon.

Re: Danczuk's dalliance?

Given what's happened to countless MPs, often as a result of media traps, you'd have thought they'd all be a lot more careful about what they say and to whom.

Having said that, I smell a rat here...

However, all things considered, he was very, very foolish...

Even if it was a honeypot trap it takes two to tango.

Apart from him being a pervy old git, what's the problem legally?

She's overage & he's not married. (or almost divorced)

None but he isn't being judged on legality, although as I read on Reddit earlier he would be in legal problems had he solicited pictures, but morals. 17 is very young, even more so considering he is late 40s.

techguyone 31-12-2015 18:44

Re: Danczuk's dalliance?

Oh I know I'm not disputing that, just saying as long as its legal it isn't really any of ours or the medias or Labour party (assuming it was in his own time) business.

Bet Corbys happy.

Osem 31-12-2015 19:36

Re: Danczuk's dalliance?

It's a serious error of judgement and it will be used against him by his enemies both inside the HOC and outside. I just hope nothing which happens, directly or indirectly, as a result of this will hamper any child abuse investigations.

I'd say it's very much in the public's interest when we have this champion of uncovering child abuse to be shown for what he is, which is a bit grubby, plus given his craving for self publicity he can hardly moan when it works both ways

If our glorious leaders can so easily be undone by hacks and bimbos, how much more likely are they to be vulnerable to the likes of the KGB I wonder. I doubt they average MP is much of a target but what about those higher up the parliamentary food chain?

I imagine MI5 take a much keener interest in the personal lives of those who progress up that good chain.

Yes I'd like to think they've seen Scandal too... ;)

I reckon Corbyn's sudden rise has caused a few sleepless nights for our spooks.

Don't get that reference.

Maybe. It's probably harder for an elected leader out of nowhere to be stopped. A minister or shadow minister? MI5 could have a quiet word with the PM/Leader of the opposition. They can make sure no one with issues makes it high enough but if the membership just elects someone then what can they do?

The image Chris posted is of John Profumo

Quote:

Although Profumo held an increasingly responsible series of political posts in the 1950s, his career ended after he had a sexual relationship with the 19-year-old model Christine Keeler in 1963. The scandal, which became known as the Profumo affair, led to his resignation and withdrawal from politics, and it may have helped to topple the Conservative government of Harold Macmillan.

Ah ok. I knew who Profumo was but haven't seen the film.

I would have been three years old so some of the nuances might have been lost on me.

That man redeemed himself totally in the years that followed imo. It'd be good to see the others follow his example

I assume you're referring to the affair as opposed to the film 'Scandal' made in 1989 which is what I was referring to. ;)

They're not all which would have been lost on you at that age. Not so much now I suspect though... ;)
