Speedtest.net download test not completing VM Luton

Anyone else seeing this strange behaviour with Speedtest?

Tests starts OK (usual low ping from VM Luton) seems to go OK for about 90% of the download and then gradually slows, but pointer stays at maximum and it just never finishes the download.

If I use a another test site all is OK.

Started happening about 45 minutes ago.

Same results here on the luton test, probably an issue with the test file they use for download.

Just use the MK server, slightly higher ping for me (11ms instead of 7ms) but roughly the same speed results

Hi Bofrok,
Still no luck here in Sandy. Speedtest.net was working fine until about a week and half ago. This may be something local to this area.

I'am not too botherd about using the Luton server as the one in Milton Keynes is fine....ping times just a wee bit more than the Luton server. But it's strange that it works ok for you.

Cheers.

I thought I would post this image of the results of my speedtest using Luton server. As you can see the test fails to complete.

Re: Speedtest.net download test not completing VM Luton

It seems that any VM speedtest.net host south of Luton, does not work for me. However any VM speedtest.net host north of Luton is fine and completes the tests.

Could this be a common routing hop that is causing the problem?

Any Meerschaum and deerstalker types want to deduce what's going on here from these clues?

Re: Speedtest.net download test not completing VM Luton

I have tried seven servers in the UK and a couple in Europe and they all work fine except the Luton server. So I would suggest that this is a fault with the test file they use for download, as Kymmy suggests in a few posts back.

Luton is fine here.

Still stops at about 95% here

Re: Speedtest.net download test not completing VM Luton

One VM host with a dodgy file maybe, but surely not all of them south of Luton (for me anyway)?

If others are seeing different results, then it could be a local to me issue expect there are also reports of failure from, for example Kymmy, so how can some be working and others not?

Is there a way to know the server that is serving the files form each host?

You'll need to check your browser debug traces probably? Do you get same failing using "c.speedtest.net" as well as different browser/OS?

Re: Speedtest.net download test not completing VM Luton

Browser debug won't shows anything as the file never times out, instead it just stops downloading and the indicated average speed starts dropping. Will try the speed test app on the same server

Luton's now working on my usual browser, only problem is that I'm getting a blank advert box that covers the SHARE THIS RESULT information

Problem with a router in the Luton area, fixed 4:30am a couple of mornings ago by what looks like a reboot.

It was also causing packet loss on some TBB BQMs.

That would make a lot of sense based on the types of problems I was seeing. All seems OK again now.

Once again, impressed it takes VM several weeks to notice that their key network infrastructure is malfunctioning.
