Did I get upgraded..?

(Doesn't seem to be a topic prefix for 152mb so left it blank)

Long story short - rang to downgrade services due to increase. Thought price is still fair but don't use TV or landline etc - usual story. Instead, was given significant discount and upgraded from 152mb to 200mb "instantly". Now however, my previously rock solid 170mb speed is about 70mb. Called to report problem and am told there's a ticket pending and all will be well when I get upgraded, but there's an issue with my levels that needs to go to the technical team anyway who'll probably sort both?

Can any of the experts here advise how things look?

Thanks.

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

I had a rock solid 50 24/7 until I upgraded to 200 and was getting under 30. - since then no matter what speed I move to - i still get flaky service. I am on 70 now - this is the best time of the day for me to test because from 12 it will go down to nearly nothing until about 2am and then it will start to pick up. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4842274154

That's my best effort as they say - 30 days notice is in, will replace with another BT line. I'd prefer to get this 24/7 on the other line as well. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4842277116

Hmm. Chap on the line said they were fluctuating - which I guess is something I couldn't see or even show with a static jpeg anyway.
That symbol rate - does that suggest 200mb? It's ages since I've delved into any of this stuff.

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

Quickest way is to go into http://192.168.0.1/cgi-bin/VmRouterS...perationCfgCgi and if your downstream rate is 220000000 bits then you have 200. It's set at 220 I think but you actually can get a max of 209 throughput due to the overheads.

I am pretty sure that symbol rate is 20Mbps but I might, and probably am wrong. I was just working on 2048 being 2MB etc.

Agh - the link you give isn't opening. I can't find the info in my SH1 config pages you mention - sorry.

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

192.168.0.1 in normal more
192.168.100.1 in modem mode
Should be a router status in the top right of the login screen?

And from there choose Operation Configuration ?

Not sure if/why the SH1 would be different to the SH2 it's the same software?

SH1... 200Mb? You should have been given a new router.

Also, go to that Router Status Page and just click "operational config" rather than using the link.

And I can't see where to go (other than what I posted above) in the advanced settings for the op config

I don't see a setting for op config anywhere.

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

you dont sign in. it's top right of http://192.168.0.1 You have gone a step too far.

And like Gobble said - you would need a SH2 in order to get it so you had best get one sent out.

Goodness - sorry!

OK - screenie: http://i.imgur.com/Tv7cjkG.jpg

OK, went back to the UK team and a new hub will be here this week.
She said there's a ticket pending and if/when they try and send the new file to my old hub, I'm probably going to have no connection all until the new hub arrives and it's able to accept the new config file. :erm: That's not good.

She couldn't help me with the current speed issue I have gained since yesterday however.. I'm going to put that down to the inclement weather and hope things get ironed out with the new hub.

Boo...

SH2 arrived this morning. All up and running with 200mb config file showing (http://i.imgur.com/8mzjzeC.jpg), but sadly still same poor speed.
Spoke to CS who logged in remotely and booted me into safe mode to run speed checks - yep, still less than 100Mb. Been told now to wait 24hrs to "let it settle down"... Jeez.
Starting to regret making that telephone call now.

:td:

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

It's absolutely constantly poor all day no matter what time I check tbh.

23prince 20-11-2015 11:22

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

Welcome to my hell, and even going back to the package before mine is still poor. It's like they put you onto a different segment and you stay there speed irrelevant.

This is now my saviour. VM is being canned in 24 days for good.

Wow..
:(
Boy, do I regret making that call.

Is that the 200mb upload speed? The CS told me mine should stay at 12mb up.

Wahey - got 92 there! lmao...

Errm. All appears to be well.
And rather than just leave this and not reply so I didn't look a berk, I'll say that in desperation/randomly trying things that were previously OK, I tried a different driver for my network card and it appears to be sorted.

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

A salutory lesson in always keeping drivers up to date.

With free apps like I/OBit driver booster etc about there's no excuse really not to.

Indeed that is the 200mbit upload speed.

Re: Did I get upgraded..?

I wasn't sure to be honest. If you look at 23prince's screenie, his says 18.89.
My upload speed has been at 12-13 all the time I was on 152.

He's showing a speed test of his BT FTTC connection, that's why.
12 (and a little bit)Mbps is the Upstream speed, it hasn't really changed for the 200Mbit.
