How do I upgrade online?
The Virgin media speed upgrade website said that my upgrade from 152mb to 200mb would be ready by the end of November.
Checked today and it says its done and for me to login to my account to activate the upgrade. Ive logged in but nothing is showing and theres no option to do the upgrade. Any ideas where I find this? |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
You should see a banner at the top of My Virgin Media. Which browser are you using? Can you try a different one?
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Im using Chrome. I did delete the banner a few weeks ago.
Just tried internet explorer and the banner is there but it says the upgrade still isnt ready! even thought the specific website check does!. |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
I went into view my offers and it was there. I did it on the 30th about 9PM and it went live midnight on the 1st. However in my area it was so bad I went back from 200 to 50 as I was getting 20 in the evenings.
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Just be aware that the upgrades available in 'My Offers' are paid increases to new tiers. They are not the in-place tier boosts.
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Hi the speed postcode checker said end of nov. I checked on the 1st nov, says your speed boost is ready now. I sign in to my account to upgrade still says almost ready end of nov. !!!!

Re: How do I upgrade online?
it is available now if you call up and pay for it. otherwise it's end of November - same for me when i was on 50. 70 end of November. I notice now I have gone back to 50 I no longer get the uplift to 70.

Re: How do I upgrade online?
I am getting the same problem. Here, when I put in my postcode, it says my speed upgrade is ready:
https://keepup.virginmedia.com/speedupgrade However, when I log into My Virgin Media, it says it is not ready. Doh! |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
thanks, it says mine is ready to so I'll be ringing them up tonight.

Re: How do I upgrade online?
mine is showing up on the postcode checker to be ready but on my account its not. We have peak time congestion here which is due to be fix mid-month so heopfully thats the delay for not making it available in my accounts yet.
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Has anybody with the problem of postcode checker saying yes, My Virgin Media saying no, actually been able to upgrade yet?

Re: How do I upgrade online?

|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Including website to contract prices. :(
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Last week the website said that my speed boost would be ready by the end November, I have checked today and it now says between April 2016 and September 2016!
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
What a mess.. It's now saying the upgrade will be ready by the end of December, the postcode checker has changed from ready now to end of December too.

Re: How do I upgrade online?
Just got the email saying mine is ready.
Clicked on the button and it took me through putting in my email address and had a reply back saying they will email back within 48 hours. This was from 50 to 70 upgrade in West End Glasgow. :) |

I didn't bother to argue, if they mess me around I will write and complain as I have done several times before over the last 15 years and get a price reduction. It's almost like their giving me amunition to do it. Patrick North Worcs |

Re: How do I upgrade online?
I've just done my upgrade 100 to 150mb online and went through no problems, I then got an email saying they are delivering my "new cable" on the 16th for self install, what equipment will I get as Virgin have just swapped my router yesterday for a shub2
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
imagine it is supposed to be your "new cable modem" because they want everyone on a shub2 or shub2ac but hopefully somebody will look at it and see you have just been given a new one and cancel it.
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Yes its a shub2ac i've just set up

I did this yesterday and got an email confirming my order. Signing in to my account today still shows the update is ready as if I had never ordered. Obviously not 48 hours yet but it did seem strange. |

It's probably going to happen tonight. I ordered online for 200 on the 30th of Oct and it went live at midnight on the 1st which was 48 hours nearly. When I did 50-200 I got something in https://my.virginmedia.com/trackorder/view-orders but right now, like you said it's showing as if I never did it and there is nothing in the order tracker. I'll do it again just to see. I did it again and once again have a reference number but nothing is showing up. This is odd. ---------- Post added at 12:02 ---------- Previous post was at 11:48 ---------- I've just called them and they said and I quote " The system says it is ready now but it takes 30 days to apply, however my area is still end of December" <face in hands> So VM are lying to people.. |

I'll see if anything does happen. |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Well if you have nothing in the Order tracking part then it won't
The are still putting as many people as they can onto a network which does not seem to have been upgraded much. Or that's how it seems from my point of view. I am sure I am wrong and I am sure I will be told so but. 9mbps most evenings is something I wont be told I am wrong about. I know I saw it, I was there when I was looking at it. (screenshots also back me up) I did manage to go from 50>200 for the extra £12 however it was so dire I got about 9 in the evenings. It's fast at 3am when I need to be sleeping. Manilla said no - Glasgow said yes it was going through on the website. Manilla told me my area was not ready yet. Maybe for one off shore was right? it was shocking to say the least. But it's only £12 more for 4x the speed (when it works) so what the hell |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
No nothing in the order section.
I'm not that bothered just now having gone from an adsl BB speed of 7mb. I'm consistently getting at least 53mb now so if I have to wait a bit for 70mb I'll manage. |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Well yes it's a massive improvement I agree :) It'll be 70/5 according to the thresholds. I lost my rag and called up and upgraded back to 200. It's very little per month more and i'll just have to download at night to get full speed. it's on about 132 right now but will drop to next to nothing before the night is out before it picks up. It is a backup/res use line after all

Blimey! Maybe I should have waited for mine lol that looks good
I am getting what I should be getting this morning http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4816865592 But if that stays around 74 all the time I might just go back to 50 and re apply for the upgrade |

Re: How do I upgrade online?
My speed boost finally went through today, I ordered on Thursday 2pm and it took almost 4 days, MyVM hasn't been updated to reflect the new speed on our account though.
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Mine was supposed to be by the end of October, then the end of November. Now it's the end of December. So should I expect it by the middle of next year?
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Knowing VM who knows :(
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Went back to 50. Either end of contract or price rise will be welcomed.
(they didn't tell me about the last one like I said before but I upgraded since so can't really use that) 50mbps my arse. It'll be under 20 by 9pm :( http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4818483718 |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Hit the "activate your new speeds" button on Monday at 4PM - still waiting despite reboots.
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Still nothing, this is crap. WHY say the speed increase is ready when it's clearly not!?
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
well it never happened, up yours virgin i'm on BT infinity now and loving it!
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
well, i got it overnight but the SH2ac is not getting the new config despite a dozen reboots and 2 from Tech support
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Came home and I have it now - even if it's very slow. Roll on 2am when I can use it! :/
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Well, my account upgrade banner has been saying End of November since I came back to VM last month. Logged in today, and it's now saying March! Is this standard?
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Yes. But unless your area is spot on don't get too excited. I got up an hour ago and it was already starting to crawl. It's now 12:05 PM and it's starting to drop. In this area it's as follows.
12pm-3am gets slow and around 9pm it's on it's knees. 3am-11am it's okay and full speed but then it starts to crumble. |

Re: How do I upgrade online?
does this upgrade renew your contract automatically? I'm moving out in june, wont need it after that.
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
The inclusive upgrade for broadband speeds does not restart a minimum term contract.
If you make any other changes alongside the broadband speed change, it will likely be a new contract. |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
Nope
|
Re: How do I upgrade online?
(See my earlier post in this thread)
VM continue to annoy me, my speed upgrade from 100 to 150 was originally promised Oct last year, then Nov, Dec, then January 2016 then June 2016 a few weeks ago it's said April 2016, I checked earlier and it now say Nov 2016 to Jan 2017! They are a load of ******* idiots..... Patrick North Worcs |

Re: How do I upgrade online?
I would ignore the postcode checker to be honest, it said mine was ready in Nov last year but my account didn't agree...
It seems to me VM are trying as hard as they can to annoy their customers. I actually complained a few months ago about this and got a £10 pm reduction on my BB only service so I now pay 23.25pm for 18 months for 100mbs. I suppose I should be happy at that, but it still racks me off that their free upgrade process is such a diabolical shambles... Patrick |
Re: How do I upgrade online?
yup, I have said many a time before that they would be better off not saying anything at all and just upgrading users as and when they are ready and it would be a nice surprise. Obviously it would put the PR guys out of business and VM wouldn't be able to willy wave in front of BT. I can only assume that their is a trade off between increased $$$ and **** poor customer service and that the number of new customers gained from advertising new tiers outweighs the number of customers who leave because they are sick of being lied to. You wonder what thick as **** **** works for VM and sorts this out though because they have outdone themselves this time. I thought it was bad before when they released a two year rollout plan and kept putting it back. I thought they had learnt from their mistakes this time though and wanted to go in the other direction and wow their customers when they said that 90% of the country was going to be upgraded before Christmas. I guess they just forgot to mention which Christmas it was going to be :D

Re: How do I upgrade online?
Out of bored interest I checked and looked at the 'offers' page for my account.
To upgrade from Talk Weekends to Talk Evenings & Weekends would be the reasonable sum of an extra £41.95 a month! :erm: |
Re: How do I upgrade online?

The guy above is quite right; an email from VM saying we have just upgraded you from 100 to 150, would be a wonderful surprise. Instead, they treat their existing customers like ****. I have been with them over 15 years now, nothing changes, my letters of complaint are becoming a regular occurrence. Such is life.. Patrick |
