Your views on Coming Soon thread in 2016?

With UPC Ireland being rebrand as Virgin Media Ireland we want to you views on the best way for the Coming soon to Virgin Media thread starting next year!

So far here is our plans:

A) Put both Virgin Media UK and Virgin Media Ireland into the one thread (We will launch volumes about every three to six months. That will be down to how busy Virgin Media has been on channel launches.)

B) Launch two threads one for Virgin Media UK (New one about every three months). And launch the other one for Virgin Media Ireland (Every year).

Let us know your views by December 6th.

Thanks
Media Boy HQ.

Put it all in one thread would be my simple advice.

Isn't that going to be confusing?

Do we have any ROI readers, anyway?

We also see that about 99% channels numbers are not the same on both networks.

Movies 24 is on

Virgin Media UK Channel 419.
Virgin Media Ireland Channel 329.

As of today we are set to be going with B unless Virgin Media Ireland redo their channel numbers.

Think in time they will reorganise both so that there is just one channel numbers lineup

We just seen this:

Quote:

On 27 March 2013 Comreg published a Decision (D06/13) that all MMDS licences will expire on 18 April 2016 and the spectrum will be auctioned off and new licences issued on a service and technology neutral basis.
Virgin Media Ireland may close in April 2016 if Virgin are outbid.

There is really no need for a new Coming Soon thread every 3-6 months. Am sure we covered that before. One for the year is enough.

They only have a few thousand customers on MMDS. MMDS is used to provide TV services in non-cabled areas. It's a one-way network, so no interactive and no broadband. VM may be quite happy to lose it.

I'm sure they are. It's our large UK readership I was concerned about, having to skip a load of irrelevant stuff.

What ever is easiest MB. Whether I am with VM or not, now or in the future, I will only look at the thread relevant to me.

In the past 48 hours we are starting to go for B. Before that we was set to go for A.

That why we want other posters views.

We will go with the winner of the Poll.

Tbh most of the stuff is irrelevant, he's been asked before to cut out all the non relevant stuff, and replace it with what's actually coming, but we still get reams and reams of stuff that I would assume no one reads.

Agree also.
There's so much 'chat' in it that the coming soon gets lost.
Option B I voted for however

Honestly, you put a lot of effort into the threads especially and you should go with whatever is best/easiest for you.

Even though we never really no for certain what is coming until the day that VM actually announce it, so in reality the thread is totally irrelevant and pretty pointless.

Especially when it got revealed that what MB and a few others thought were channels testing were actually On Demand feeds lmao.

The thread is what it is. And quite frankly, I like what it is. I believe other people like it also. Yes, it veers of topic a fair bit but that's fine by me.

We get information we post it, sometimes the information is correct sometimes it isn't *shrugs* any new launches posted are classed as rumours until/if they launch.

Maybe the title needs to become a rumours thread then?

I think coming soon/rumours would be a more suitable choice but the thread has worked well so far so no real need to change it.
95% of people who use the thread know that anything posted should be taken as a rumour until it shows up on vms EPG or VM announce it.
Sources which i won't disclose (i know you didn't ask me to anyway lol) give me information which i pass on and tbf 90% of info i post happens, MB also has a very good track record too, yes i'm sure we do get the occasional source pop up who is just trolling us it happens, if what i post happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't no-one will lose any sleep over it.

Bit like an artichoke: You have to go through so much to get so little. Doesn't do any harm but it would be better if it actually contained real "coming soon" fact rather than members wish lists.

Ofcourse you do, you are a stirrer pal nothing more nothing less you seem to like to stir things up, if you had read the threads you would of seen that many of my rumours actually happen for example i was the one who posted about FOX moving to m+ way before it even moved there, the weekend of BT sport on that monday i posted BT Sport was expected in the next 7 days, i also posted about broadband speeds being increased this year infact i posted that rumour last year. So wind your neck in and grow up instead of attempting to derail threads.
Actually scrap that as it would require something called common sense which i highly doubt you are capable off.

Anypermitedroute 13-10-2015 21:43

Re: Your views on Coming Soon thread in 2016?

So your rumours of Sky Atlantic, history HD, AMC, Amazon prime to name a few doesn't make 10% then does it.

As for Fox it was already announce by VM so you can hardly take credit for that one and as for broadband speed they weren't exactly going to slow them down were they

The only person who actually predicted anything is spankymagicplan (gets my vote for MB poster of the year btw)

Anyway, you confuse the situation I am actually happy for you to continue posting, just don't expect us all to be gullible.

Anyway I will move on now

And i have always stated they are rumours until vm confirm them or they appear on the EPG, you just try to make yourself look clever but end up looking like a complete twonk instead, i'm not the only rumour poster you have had a pop at only problem is i fight back and fight hard so you started on the wrong person lad.
Anyway moving on.

The 2015 thread looks very similar to me. Discussion on the Sky Movies name changes, what's coming soon, etc....

There may be one or two variations, but not so many that we need to have a separate thread, which will be a duplication of the Coming Soon thread for the most part.

Similar but different. Channel numbers are different, channel packaging is different, and I'm going to take a punt that That's Solent will never launch in Ireland. ;)

I've scanned the past month's posts. I found ONE factual post that applies to both UK and Ireland. (The one about the Sky/Disney deal).

Besides, I'm still waiting for an answer as to why we need Irish news at all.
