Truly shocking and bizarre.

Crazy.
I'd say there's more to it. I'd say he could have recued his own daughter himself.

This is both very shocking and extremely sad. I just do not understand as to why any parent would not want their child saved. I personally would not care who saved my children if they needed help and I can assure you like many parents on this forum wild horses could not have held my hubby or myself back from coming to our children's aid. In my opinion this goes against your parental instinct after all most do anything to protect or save our children. I cannot help wondering if these men did save his daughter would she have been disowned by her father who did nothing to save her.

Well I can't see how it doesn't amount to something like manslaughter.

I presume it was Ok for her body to be touched by men after she drowned and she was carried from the sea.

May be a cultural rather than a religious thing.

Either way a terrible waste of life. Anyone who places dogma above the life of a child deserves everything they have coming to them.

I should point out that according to the story this happened a number of years ago. One would hope it wouldn't happen now.

I would have knocked the father out then rescued the child

I originally heard this being discussed on LBC the day I posted and no mention was made of when it happened but the impression given was that it was current.

Their website states this:
Quote:

A 20-year-old woman has drowned in Dubai after her father allegedly stopped lifeguards from rescuing her because he did not want her to be touched by "strange men", according to reports.
The article I originally quoted does mention it was some years ago right at the very end so it seems LBC got the wrong end of the stick.

Happy to let someone die for their own warped beliefs.

Religion has a lot to answer for.

Yeah this 'went viral' a few days ago and no one knew it was 20 years ago. The website made no mention of it. Most people reading the site would assume it was recent because of the why the site wrote it up, pretty shoddy behaviour on their part IMO.
