Cancelling TV Means New 12 Month Contract?
Evening all,
I've contacted VM retentions today via online chat to query how much it would be to cancel my TV and just keep BB and phone. Ironically its 50p cheaper to keep More TV with 50Mb BB and phone than it is just to have BB and phone. However I genuine have no need to keep the TV so would rather get rid altogether for the sake of 50p per month. However the person I spoke to said cancelling TV would trigger a new 12 month contract for BB and phone. I left it earlier to have a think about it but the more I thought about, the more I cannot understand why I'd have to take out a new contract when I am simply removing a service and downgrading the broadband? Anyone else come across this and can offer any explanation? Or have I been told a bunch of rubbish? Cheers in advance :) |

I guess it is because you are out of contract on your BB and as such you will, technically, be starting a new contract for BB. I guess this would then go towards the new customer figures we hear about each quarter. It's all about the figures these days.
If it helps, I was told I had taken out a new 12 month contract for the minimum TV when I cancelled TV. |

I cancelled TV and phone back in December and wanted the BB to drop down to 50 from 120, the CS adviser said this would be a new 12 month contract. I told her to leave it at 120 and i'd review other providers.
We carried on talking and i mentioned BT had offered LL and 38Mb BB for about £27, the end result was i got the BB downgraded to 50 at £19.50 and there wasn't a new contract. I wasn't interested in keeping the phone either, even though i could probably have got it thrown in for round about the same price. |

Got offered The Complete Bundle for £25 a month for a year so couldn't turn that down so Sky here I come! ;) |

I downgraded my package and Virgin tried to put me on a 12 month contract again. I threatened to cancel reminding them I could get a good deal elsewhere with a new contract and they backed down. I have written confirmation off them now that I am not tied in for 12 months.

I'm very impressed so far, the box is much quicker than TiVo. Love the selection of VOD content and the fact you can download catch up programmes so that they just appear in your recordings. Don't know if it's my eyes or not but the HD seems a little sharper too. Nice to now have Sky Atlantic along with the HD version of Universal. I'll still be popping in to CF to chat with you guys and get my fix of VM TV news. I hope you all get some good news soon regarding BT Sport. Superblade :) |

I am thinking of cancelling my TV as I only use freeview from the built into the TV format have disconnected the virgin box as there is no use for it, why is it so difficult for a person to cancel something with Virgin Media, are they so well off with customers , that they seem hell bent on chasing them away to the competition, someone needs to explain to Virgin , THAT THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT, hence the right to WALK AWAY, I will also be looking into another supplier as I only need a phone line and broadband , if that is TOO HARD for Virgin to provide well BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
