Only TV3 HD in August as far as I know.

Only launch this thread due to UPC Ireland now being part of Virgin Media.

UPC Ireland is now in some respects a division of Virgin Media. The other UPC companies are at the same level within LGI as VM i.e. sister companies.

UPC Ireland is much closer to VM in regards to channels than the others.

I've noticed that APR has started to pick holes in peoples posts for the sake of it. The reason/s are unknown, but probably related to trolling.

Richard what on earth are you on? my question is a perfectly valid one as there is an assumption that just because Ireland has it we should get it in uk and that UPC has operations across the whole of Europe.

If people post items relating to rumours then it is only fair they put themselves forward to scrutiny of the validation of their claim. I take these all at face value and only right to question

The only inflammatory remarks come from you which from your history suggest you do have previous on this matter; rather than answer questions put forward you attempt to role revere and suggest trolling. Interesting, I never knew that Ben.

It's also interesting that UPC Ireland are now part of the same family again. IIRC NTL sold it off to LG, NTL became Virgin Media who were of course taken over by LG themselves!

I would agree that UPC Ireland is much closer to VM with regards to channels than the others, so can't understand the criticism this thread has received.

It's a shame we won't be getting RTE1 etc as a lot of people here in the UK would like to have these channels, but I can't see it happening due to rights issues.

Can't see any reason why TG4 couldn't be carried for Irish speakers though.

Thanks. I discovered that the RTE channels were available on VM in NI when I stayed at a hotel in Belfast.

Apparently, this is connected to the Good Friday Agreement.

Just found out that UPC removed UTV (intended for Northern Ireland) when UTV Ireland started (intended for Southern Ireland).

The only way for UPC customers to get UTV NI now is via Freeview (if they live close enough to the border) or via satellite.

I find it odd that UPC have removed it and that it has never been on the Sky EPG, as i'm sure that the Good Friday Agreement stated that each side of Ireland should have easy access to each others television channels.

Thanks Ben, that explains it. It looks like the agreement was intended to only cover the PSB channels.

Thinking about it, TV3 was onced (part?) owned by ITV, so I don't think that they would have been happy about UTV being on the Sky EPG.

BBC Three will not move online until 2016.

a516 is reporting that BBC Three will remain as a regular TV service this year, with any move online now deferred to early 2016.

Sky Living It ceases broadcasting on UPC channel 158 at 6am on Tuesday 9 June.

Sky Real Lives takes over immediately on the same day, same channel from 6am.

Sky Sports has confirmed that Sky Sports 2 will rebrand as Sky Sports Ashes on July 1st to September 1st on UPC Channels 403 (SD Channel) and 433 (HD Channel).

Two new rebrand coming to Sky Movies this Summer.

An new Sky Movies ad has confirmed that two Sky Movies Channels are set to be rebrand later this Summer (Also in SD):

-Sky Movies Tom Cruise HD
-Sky Movies Star Wars HD

No launch date was given on both of them.

All UK targetted UCB TV and radio channels have now closed on satellite. AFAIK UCB Ireland is still broadcasting.

Were the UK variants available on UPC? Are they still on air on cable? Been told that UCB UK radio continues on DAB. Not sure if they ever did broadcast on Freeview.

If VM needed an alternative feed, there are sources available. However, radio stations have to pay VM to be on the EPG, so if this is a cost cutting measure I doubt they will continue on cable.

UPC has purchased TV3 Ireland and it's sister channel 3e for €87 million. UPC will pay €80 million upfront and €7 million when audience figures improve. This is subject to approval by the Irish Government.

TV3 HD did launch on UPC Ireland on August 11th.

UPC Ireland viewers can view TV3 HD on UPC channel 150.

BT Sport Europe launches on UPC Ireland.

On August 18th two new channels did launch on UPC Ireland:

-BT Sport Europe has launch on UPC Ireland Channel 413.
-BT Sport Europe HD has launch on UPC Ireland Channel 443.

Rumours in the press over the weekend that ITV will buy UTV's TV arm. Not sure how this leaves UPC's newly-acquired TV3 subsidiary which was fighting a battle with the newly-launched UTV Ireland channel which launched eight months ago.

Just watched an interview with Frank Warren on YouTube. He suggested Boxnation are in negotiations with UPC to launch ahead of Irelands Andy Lee Vs. Billy Joe Saunders for the world title. That fight is pencilled in for 19th December.
