What is worse I am going back to Cuba for a holiday next year and there will be loads of Yanks going there now, flashing their dosh, leaving big tips, and using their loud mouths moaning when something is not right.

I still cannot figure how they made him Middle East peace envoy when he was part of the problem in the first place. Its like giving the keys to the armoury to the Taliban and asking them to fix the weapons whilst there in there.

I would point out that a dominant US is better than a dominant Russia from our point of view and, in my opinion, the entire world. There may be a lot of mistakes they've made but I think political, economically and culturally they are better than the alternatives. Their focus on the rule of law and democracy is positive, the economic systems they've promoted have been more successful than that of Russia and, maybe most importantly of all, they gave the world The Simpsons.

Surely Putin IS a massive step backward, compared to the progress made by Gorbachev.
Under a more moderate and forward thinking leader. Russia would be welcomed instead of shunned - they should fear fracking, is it's only their gas supplies that make them important, just like it's only the oil that makes the middle east more than unimportant places of sand and medieval religion.

Putin's lost the plot and stirring up nationalism in order to divert attention from all the failure, cronyism and corruption he's presided over. If he can't provide his people with an external target for their fear and hatred, he'll knows that sooner or later they'll come after him.

Things are far from perfect in the West but God only knows what it'd be like if Putin was is charge of us...

It was only yesterday i was telling someone who were having a go at muslims who hate the USA and Our army. I said what do u expect when we rolled into both Iraq and Libya claiming we had to in order to topple dictators when all it was we were after the oil, if it was to topple dictators who harm their own people what about Castro or Mugabe or even that pillock in North Korea? The reason is theres nothing there for us to go in for.

Everyone knows Putin and his colleagues have tens of billions of dollars in tax havens throughout the world, and that he and his cronies imprison or kill anyone in Russia who disagrees with him - all this says that it should be publicised more....

Putin is a danger and as he fails to deal with things within Russia he will become more dangerous trying to distract and instill fear into the russian people with external adventures his problem is that the Russian people of today and those old soviet citizens he'd love to have have zero in common. He is facing increasing pressure on many fronts from within but as they mount so do his international gambles and sadly i think he'd rather see the world burn with him leading russia then bow out gracefully and make way for newer more sensible politicians.

Only thing I'm damn sure of is that this is not a time to reduce our military further or attempt any economic only solution, force and the readiness to use it is the only thing that will limit and contain him.
