Apocalypse Soon
For us ordinary mortals, this issue matters little, we just go about our daily lives and leave such matters to Governments. OK, what else can we do ? But it does affect the destiny of us all.
This out of control astronomic financial disaster, which is growing every second of each day, is predicted by the worlds financial experts to result in a world monetary collapse in the very near future. If and when that happens, civilisation as we know it today will be devastated. It is not funny money, it is very real indeed. Posted just for general interest and comments. I am afraid that both our financial comforts will disappear like a puff of smoke if a world monetary collapse occurs and that is beyond our control. |
Re: Apocalypse Soon
I do wonder how real these figures are or if there's a lot of double, treble or greater counting going on.

IF the experts are correct and this escalation of debt goes on regardless, then eventually the monetary system will collapse and our money will become worthless. People will lose everything. An example is the German hyperinflation of the 1920`s, where a loaf of bread cost 200,000 million Marks in November 1923. A dozen eggs cost 4 Billion Marks. Money became worthless. I hope that sounds real, because it is fact. |

If life seems jolly rotten There's something you've forgotten And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing When you're feeling in the dumps Don't be silly chumps Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing. And...always look on the bright side of life... (Whistle) Come on. Always look on the right side of life... |

It is not Wittmann`s fault, I am not setting myself up as an Aunt Sally in a coconut shy, I am simply posting an issue that should be of interest to all of us. To infer that it is only me that is concerned about the rocketing national debt of countries, is an unbelievable attitude to adopt. |
Re: Apocalypse Soon
'Big Oil' will never let it happen, because who would they sell the oil to and what would be the point of their friends in the arms industry if there was nobody worth fighting with to get control of more oil. Now when the oil runs out all bets will be off...

We had a thread on this a few years ago claiming the world's finances would collapse in 2013. It was BS then and is the same this time.

Monetary collapse cannot be accurately predicted or scheduled, it is something that will occur as a result of collective International debts causing a worldwide financial meltdown. Could happen at any time. The staggering ever increasing debts cannot go on forever, it will reach a point of no return, when the worlds banks go bust. Who knows ? Perhaps in 5-10 years or even sooner. then I am afraid Russ, it will be back to the Stone Age for all of us. |
Re: Apocalypse Soon
The point I'm making is I'm very sceptical of any predictions of impending doom especially when previous attempts pass without a whimper.
If it's going to happen it's going to happen. And nothing we can do here will stop it. |

It is one of those unpredictable certainties. Just like vital mineral and oil reserves will definitely run out, so will financial reserves. In the meantime we all carry on regardless in Gung-Ho fashion and continue enjoy watching Corrie on the box. No other choice really. It is a matter of qué será será. |
Re: Apocalypse Soon
What I find hard to understand is the fact that each country owes other counties huge amounts, but in turn those countries owe just as much back.
If all countries balanced the books by cancelling equivalent debts then interest would not need to be paid and all would be well. (mostly) Then again that would mean the banks get nowt and we can't have that can we :erm::rolleyes: in 2010 we owed the US 578 bn Euro they owed us 834 bn I know this is very simplistic, but you get the idea. |
Re: Apocalypse Soon
I don't think we have to bring common sense into the discussion it totally ruins a good argument.
|
Re: Apocalypse Soon
I'd ask anyone who seriously believes we're on the brink of financial meltdown what, if anything, they've done (or are planning to do) to mitigate the effects.

Re: Apocalypse Soon
Moan about it on the internet?

At some point we'll need global financial management and I hope I'm not around when that particular beast raises its ugly head. |

Best spend what you have plus borrow a big fat sum and spend that. You can`t pay it back once the balloon goes POP and paper money is used for toilet paper. The trick is judging the time scale. The UK now owe almost £1.7 Trillion and rising as you watch the clock. Its gotta blow a fuse in the next few years. |

At what point do you think the pop will happen? Everyone owes trillions. Will is pop once we reach gazillions?

If equivalent debt is cancelled, then those "assets" (the bank's claimed future income stream from interest payments) disappear in a puff of logic. Crucially, if the capital is paid down, then the interest payments are lost and a truly massive chunk of what the banks claim is their value just disappears at a keystroke. |
Re: Apocalypse Soon
Nobody here's filling their garage with tons of survival equipment and supplies then, not even the person predicting imminent doom.
Having read the OP I was tempted to start stocking up with tins of beans, corned beef, rice etc. but my garage is full of empty consumer goods boxes and packaging I might need if anything breaks down under extended guarantee and has to be returned to the manufacturers... :) |
