How often do you charge your phone?
 

To get the best out of your phone, how do you charge it?

Some people say its good to keep it charged up, some others say to drain it completly every so often.
Obviously batteries get worse over time, but whats the best way to get the best use of your phone?

My one2one has around two days on a full charge, but I plug it in every night to top it up.

My LG G3 will go 2 days on a charge, I then just plug it in for an hour to charge it back up. I generally only charge it when it gets down to 1/4.

Since I got a bloody "smart" phone, it needs charging _at least_ daily

My Sony Xperia L lasts for days until it needs charged as I let it nearly die but then again I only use my phone for text messages and calls, whereas both my son's iphones are rubbish at holding a charge and need charged every night and hubby's Sony z3 gets charged everyday whether it needs to be or not.

As I have a very poor signal at work my phone eats the battery so lasts about 24 hours, but weekends I can charge Friday night and not need to charge again until noon + on Sunday.

Mine is a HTC One (M7) on T-Mobile (EE) not 4G.

My daily commute is around 2 hours altogether so if I drive I charge it in the car or when I go by train I plug it in there. I charge it overnight as well. I'm probably doing it more than I need to but the one day I decide not to is when I run out of power just when I need it.

I always charge my phone overnight. When I go to bed it gets plugged in next to my bed whether its low or not.

Occasionally it will completly drain if I'm heavy using it, so top up during the day with my extra battery case.

Its a Note 3 just now but changing to a G3 this week,

Poor signal eats my battery, but as there's nothing on the actual phone to drain it, I still get 4-5 days on a charge. I usually charge it when it starts bleeping at me.

Usually don't let it drop below 50% but use rapid charge to take it back to 100% in around 30 mins.

About every 3 or 4 months. I don't use it that often.

Hmmm... the £10 top-up I put on it about 2 years ago is down to £6.47.....

I've been told it is worth always keeping the battery above 40% so when mines heading past the 50% mark I stick it on charge.
Every few months its aparently good to drain completely but I tend to keep mine topped up most of the time.

How the hell do you manage that?

Just about to stick a Lollipop build on mine but it generally gets to the end of the day before needing to be charged on medium-ish use on Stock 4.4.

I dont charge until needed. My phone Moto G First Edition lasts me about 2 days before it needs to be charged.

I can get up to 4 days from my Moto G First Edition based on the signal I get at home - it is currently showing 2 days since last charge with 61% battery remaining.
I generally charge it when prompted, which is when it has around 20% to 30% battery capacity left.

I need to charge my dual sim moto g(2014) every other day unless I am in hospital where the Three signal is pants and my phone drains in less than a day. I am hoping a second O2 sim will sort that out.

I understand that lollipop should improve the day to day battery life on my phone so am looking forward to it arriving.

Just looked at the phone and it has 1/3 battery left and i last charged it early Sunday evening i think and i never turn it off.

I don't really text and call on it but i browse the internet on it for maybe 75mins a day on wifi while at work and also have the alarm blasting for a few seconds in the morning while on early shift.

On my S3 i had to charge it every evening or i wouldn't get through the next day without the battery nearly flat.

I use the phone quite a bit for texts and calls, as well as general internet use, so the battery probably takes a bigger hit with me I suppose.

Do you know if you're on Lollipop or KitKat though? I think the latest (20h) build of Lollipop is better for the G3 battery wise but need to test it really.

Lollipop here i never really noticed any battery life changes on my LG G3 or Nexus 10.

I got another update from LG last week, V20h-Eur-xx, visually it now gives me the same home screen icons as my Nexus 10 and i think it scrolls smoother too.

Blimey, thought I didn't spend much... :)

I spend £5 a month on data but hardly anything else like you. My 5" Samsung clone gets charged maybe 4 times a week.

I only charge it when the battery indicator shows a single bar or it starts bleeping unless I think I might need it for extended use in which case I top it right up.

Used for emergency or taking odd calls or texts. Lasts about 10 days normally mostly on idle. I'm not glued to the thing like some.

Yep it is quite bizarre how many people now let their lives revolve around their damned phones. They can't seem to help texting, taking calls or whatever when they should be doing/concentrating on other things - whether that's work, study or simply interacting with the people they're actually with at the time.

Every 2 days but it doesn't get used heavily, just the odd whatsapp message or checking something on Google.

HTC One M8. Heavy use so everyday charge.
HTC One Mini 2 work use so every few days.
Galaxy S3 Cyanogen 4.4 w/ Anker battery. Every few hours. Test device.

Neither is strictly true.

Keeping it above 40% is only relevant for long-term storage when the battery is disconnected and not in use.

Draining it completely is only relevant for older batteries which are either worn or have low quality/outdated programming.

My HTC One M8 can go 1-3 days without charging depending on use. I usually charge it daily though even if it's still got plenty left. I discharge it below 10% once every month or two to recalibrate the battery meter.

Finally put my Moto G (first edition - android 4.4.4) on charge after 4 days & 6 hours, connect charger prompt was showing & it had 18% charge remaining.

Same. Although it was much better when I first got it - initially it would make it through even the longest day with 20-30% spare, now it ends up with <10% by 10pm even if I don't use it at all.

Z3 Compact on the other hand manages a minimum of two days moderate use, usually with 20-30% left at the end of the second day.

Overnight every night regardless of % left which is generally 40-60%. Never had battery issues with charging like this.

I charge my Nokia Lumia 930 overnight though it's usually still at 60%+ remaining after being off charge 16+ hours with medium usage anyway
