Blair to be questioned on 'terror' comfort letters.

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair will finally give evidence in public over the IRA on-the-runs scheme.

I'm sure he'll give his usual candid and entirely accurate summary of what happened and why too...

When are all the Christians going to apologise for Tony Blair and GW Bush's Acts of Terror? ;)

Tony Blair would likely deny all knowledge of, well, anything given the compulsive liar he appears to have become.

I'm just glad he's the UN Middle East Peace Envoy - God only knows what sort of mess we'd be in if he hadn't selflessly dedicated his life to solving all those problems of religious hatred and intolerance...

Why is Blair being questioned? I thought the 'on-the-runs' letters where an administrative error or is the entire policy under review?

Hopefully the questioning will resemble this.

Wouldn't wish waterboarding on anyone, even Blair. It's really not pleasant.

I'm sure that would apply had they said they invaded in the name of Christianity

Nice edit. Not that big a stretch, for either party.

Here we go.

Blair doesn't seem to be saying he did it in the name of Christianity does he? Or did I miss that bit?

The Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the largest Christian church, with more than 1.2 billion members worldwide.

so it is reasonable to surmise that if he did it for god it would be the Christian god and as i understand it there is only one Christian God aka the one true God that organised Christian religions follows so it also follows he did it in the name of the religion Christianity . or am i some how being unreasonable..

When God tells you to do something. you know you have a problem.

So was these scheme known about at the time or did it only come up after that guy escaped court action because he was wrongly sent a letter?

I'm an atheist and get them all the time. This may explain a few things. Oh dear :(

On topic, I'm sure Teflon Tone will avoid any kind of blame. He really hasn't come out to well in the wash has he?

Is he being questioned under oath? If not then he'll be lying for sure.

But only by a select few it seems. From the OP's link:

Quote:

Members of the former Labour administration insist it was not a secret policy but political parties in Northern Ireland, other than Sinn Fein, said they either knew nothing of the scheme, or at least the scale of it, until the John Downey affair.
I don't recall it making the press.

Mr Angry 15-01-2015 10:28

Re: Blair to be questioned on 'terror' comfort letters.

"or at least the scale of it" is the key phrase.

Unionist politicians admitting to knowing about it and the scale of it would be political suicide. They have no option but to feign surprise.
