Where does the wi-fi signal come out on the SH2ac

I have a SH2ac. Where dose the Wi-Fi signal come out on the SH2ac, the front or the edge? Ken

Since it's basically an omnidirectional design then both (and more! ;) )
If it followed the VMDG485 PCB layout then additional QAC 9557/9880 PCIe WLan is in top front corner(as it stands on a base LAN/WAN at rear) but no idea whether microslip/patch/PIFA/ antenna array locations have changed marginally?

There's no such thing as a perfect isotropic antenna in practice but since I suspect you were interested in radiation patterns a lot of research/testing went into the VMDG485 WiFi with Farncombe and Bristol Universities then possibly this might help:

Clearly VM didn't want to make the same design failures in both SH2 versions as found in the SH1(VMDG480)! ;)

enjoy....

Thanks for you very complete explanation. Ken

The SH1's antennas and radiation patterns were already pretty close to an ideal perfect omnidirectional output, except for the bit blocked by the main PCB towards the bottom/front.

Mine is a SH2ac

There are 5 antennae at the top of the SH2ac. Four of them are arranged on one side inside the cover thus:

\ | - |

The fifth is in the middle of the other side of the cover, thus:

\

This compares with the two antennae idiotically positioned at the base of the SH1.

Now that you're the wiser, Ken ......

Thanks Sephiroth. Ken

from what I know, its positioned in that way for beamforimg and LSS purposes

How so beam forming, GT?

Where does that article meet the SH2ac, GT?

Its self explanatory
whats with all the questions?

Re: Where does the wi-fi signal come out on the SH2ac

It isn't self explanatory in terms of the SH2ac and similarly configured routers with internal antennae.

You've stated that the antennae are positioned for beam forming and then pointed to an article describing beam forming. That article does not explain how that works with the configuration set into the SH2 or SH2ac.

So, Ken (the OP) is none the wiser as to whether he has the benefit of beam forming.

The questions from me are intended to draw out a more complete explanation in respect of Ken's device..

What are the "LSS purposes", GT?

And before you blank me with "what's with all these questions?", people will respect your advice when you can show it's soundly based.

oooohh............right.
it wud be easier if you answer your own questions in relation to the thread then

C'mon GT. You know it doesn't work like that. Unless you intend posting nonsense (tell us if that's the case so we can all put you on ignore), in helping the OP, you should explain how your answer works.

You're trying to dodge explaining what you meant leaving us with the impression that you don't know what you're talking about.

Poor old Ken - he would have wanted the full answer from you - the bit that Wiki doesn't describe in relation to the SH2/SH2ac.
