It's just another over priced telephone that is / does the same as all the other 'iphones' before it.

Still I'm sure all the fanboy suckers will fall in love the new 'number'. I think they are getting quite tedious now.

Not quite this new one actually does more and is dramatically better than the last few iPhones.

Last iPhone I owned was the 3G. Been on Android since but this one has me interested.

Same old over priced crap!

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

It's a sad offering from Apple really. It's specs are no where near as good as android phones that have been out for some time already. While they are offering bigger screens than before, the DPI and quality is far inferior than other phones that came out a year or so ago. It's their first phone with NFC, which they should have included with the iPhone 5, as all the other non-apple phones were getting NFC back then.

This one is for the dedicated apple fanbois, or those that still think it's cool to tell your friends you have an iPhone. For the price it costs, it makes little sense to get it over all the other options. There is nothing to make you go wow, I must get one.

All of Apples disciples will be in line already to give there next donation to the Church of Steve Jobs. Nothing totally new from Apple that has not been done already in most Android phones and the Moto 360 wins the design award for smart watch as far as i am concerned.

Sure are. Flagships come with "quad-HD" screens these days. By quad they mean 1440p which is 'quad-720p'

Pfft. 2012 is being a bit generous. All those features could be had from mods or optional extras before then.

And lets not forget core specs:
iPhone 6
Dual-core 1.4Ghz
1GB RAM
8MP Camera
1.2MP Secondary

Nexus 4
Quad-core 1.5Ghz
2GB RAM
8MP camera
1.3MP Secondary.

No, you really ought to go back to 2011 to find something worse:

Galaxy Nexus

4.65 inches display
720p resolution
Dual-core 1.2Ghz
1GB RAM
5MP camera
1.2MP secondary

(Not to mention the Nexus phones cost a third as much, even back then...)

They'll still sell by the bucketload....

So do the Samsung Galaxy series despite having alienated their entire original fanbase. Selling lots doesn't mean good, and not all good products sell lots either.

In related news, Tesco value also sells by the bucketload.

How so? I've been a user of every version of the Galaxy S since the 2 and only skipped the 5 as I moved to the Note 3. Most people I know are still Galaxy S users.

whatever meets your needs and/or wants really. some people like android phones, some people like iPhones. it's no biggy either way. don't see why people love to take sides so much over it all - it's just a phone. if it doesn't do what you want, don't buy it.

Nope, they've said they're going to be selling it but won't be taking pre-orders

A lot of the intricate power features in the original Galaxy series have been removed or disabled, and a lot of developers are complaining how Samsung are deliberately blocking their access to many of the phone's unique APIs.

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

What gets me is theres no wonder people struggle each month to pay bills or have to work 2 jobs when companies ask such rediculous prices for phones and they pay so much for their contract.

My mate is a taxi driver and his wife is a nurse and they spend almost £110 a month of phones and tarrifs.

I pay £12 a month sim only and phone cost me £130 its a 16GB moto g android phone.

I just cant fathem why people want to spend so much and make hard work for themselves.

Stuart 20-09-2014 18:24

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

It's called choice. You choose to pay as little as you can for a phone. As long as the phone does what you want it to, that is good. Other people choose (for whatever reason) to pay a little more and get a phone that is more powerful.

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

I'm weighing up buying an unlocked iPhone6 from Apple and having a SIM only contract from Three (as it saves about £8 per month over the two year period), but the Apple store says "An unlocked iPhone 6 may not support 4G LTE networks in all countries; contact service providers for details. "

Does anyone know if this is going to affect an iPhone on Three network?

Tezcatlipoca 08-01-2015 14:48

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

I have an unlocked iPhone 6 with Three, and am able to get 4G, just as I was with my 5S on Three.

qasdfdsaq 08-01-2015 18:40

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

3's 4G frequency was the first and only 4G band supported by earlier iPhones, Apple used to claim it was the only one worth supporting (at the time).

Russ 08-01-2015 18:58

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

My old iPhone 5 could get EE's 4G perfectly well.

qasdfdsaq 09-01-2015 00:23

Re: New iPhone 6 & 6 Plus phones and Apple Watch

EE and 3 share networks and EE happen to be the only other network that uses the same frequency band, which is why as I said, earlier iPhones only supported that band.

Should be fine, some countries use different LTE frequencies that the iPhone doesn't, thats all.

Thanks!
I worked out the cost of buying one outright, and taking a contract with a new phone (including the £99 down payment) and over the two year period it works out about £8 per month saving, plus the there's unlimited data tariffs available on SIM only but not on iPhone6 inclusive tariffs.
