503 errors on bbc

I'm getting 503 errors on BBC radio 6 and problems loading BBC news at the moment. I switched to google dns servers after problems with Virgin two weeks ago. Anybody else seeing this?

In a word yes. Its the Russians, they don't like anyone reporting the news at the moment...

Somehow I don't think 6Music is really a top priority news site for the Russians.

Just about everything had gone AWOL on me including CF. Switched DNS and it's all back fine. Looks like VM haven't resolved their DNS issues.

Re: 503 errors on bbc

DNS would have nothing to do with 503 errors.

Its a BBC internal issue, seems that a lot of things are stuffed:

Re: 503 errors on bbc

how interesting, given the size of the organisation you would think they would have a team of IT bods that would swing into action immediately.

Re: 503 errors on bbc

I'm sure they have bods but not every problem is as simple as turn-it-off-and-on-again instant-fix. There's also a downside of being so big, that being systems have many different levels and inter-dependant components all run by different departments if not different companies and locating a fault between them is not always quick.

Especially where Service Level Agreements and Contracts are involved. If you aren't careful, you'll get a situation where the contractors spend more time and effort blaming each other than they do looking for the fault.
