Define 'any stuffs:- MEANING any games at full HD.

can Radeon R7 240 OR GeForce GT 730 play latest games at FULL HD?

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

Different games place different demands on your hardware. Some games might easily run with a gopod frame rate on relatively low powered cards. Other games will stutter along. It can also depend on the detail settings you choose in game. For example you can have full 1080p HD resolution and simply then customise the detail from ultra down to basic.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts...marks,175.html
Choose your preferred game and your preferred graphics settings. Anything with frame rate above 60fps will be OK. You might be happy with less, but lower rates will at times approach juddery, and anything under 40fps is no good at all.

Absolutely this. There is no graphics card in the world that can play every game in existence at full speed at full settings at full HD. The OP needs to be more specific.

I would say 60fps and above is only necessary for fast past games, e.g. first-person twitch shooters. 30-60fps is fine for slower FPSes and RTS and even 10-20fps is acceptable for some few games. I recently played through Far Cry 3 single player at an average framerate of 38fps and it was perfectly fine and not juddery at all. Indeed, some people can't tell the difference between 40 and 60fps, and lots of people cant tell the difference between 60 and 120fps.

Hell most of the KSP community is used to running at less than 10 frames per second when trying to build complicated ships.

i reciently bought this card as my old radion 6670 the dvi port packed up

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...n=&lid=1&leg=0

The OC at the end means its the overclock version and comes with software to control overclocking even to a point of increasing fan speeds manually.

the overdrive feature is available in most if not all AMD desktop cards

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

True but the overdrive feature is limited and does not some basic features fundamental to overclocking such as voltage control, which manufacturer utilities do.

You still haven't said WHAT GAMES.

If you want to play Angry Birds at FULL HD 1080p then even the graphics card in my phone can manage that.

Topic in question. All if not most at a good framrate and res a good card would be a 4GB 770.

Budget? The 2gb version.

qasdfdsaq 07-07-2014 23:41

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

You can spend as much money as you want, there's still no card that can play every game at full HD at max framerate and max settings.

£2200 might get you close, but no closer than a £1000 card.

And yet again, the equivalent AMD will give you comparable performance while running cooler, quieter, and at less than half the price, save you over £1000.

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

@adzii_nufc its to much. my CPU processor maybe can't handle the graphic card which you said and then i need a new Power Supply
LOOOOOOL @qasdfdsaq
@qasdfdsaq even i know £2200 12GB Geforce GTX TITAN Z and £1000 8GB AMD Radeon R9 295 X2 can play Full HD.
GTX TITAN Z and Radeon R9 295 X2 its made for Ultra HD and 4K. > you can play games at Ultra HD and 4K.
i said budget graphic card.
if not any game then at least most games.

i think Radeon R7 240. is good price for £40..and is good for my CPU, RAM and PSU.
or GeForce GT 640 seems ok for budget.

Thank you alanbjames and Rob and co

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

Unless you don't mind slide shows you're not going to be doing much gaming with that R7 240, games you mentioned like Thief will bring it to it's knees. It's a home theater PC card not a gaming card.

One of two things needs to happen, either you need to bite the bullet and spend more than tuppence or adjust your expectations of what games you are going to play on it. Quite simply it will not cope with the likes of Far Cry 3 and Thief that you want to use it for.

truthspeaker 08-07-2014 12:08

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

AMD Radeon R7 240, It comes armed with enough graphics processing horsepower to drive a majority of modern games at 720p (and even 1080p in some titles). This should be the starting point for gamers on a tight budget.

720p is not full HD ;)

might aswell wait for few years so the price falls down for radeon r9 295x2 then get it from Ebay.

do you think Intel Quad Core 2 Q6600 2.4GHz can handle the card?
with 4Gb DDR3 RAM 1066
and a cheap 600Watt power supply. i don't no how many amp's its got.

qasdfdsaq 08-07-2014 14:31

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

No budget card will play Far Cry 3 at full settings, full HD, 60fps. The other games you could maybe get by with a midrange card (£150-250 or so).

Plus what makes you think by the time the R9 295x2 falls to a "budget" price it'll play games any better than a similarly priced card today?

you could just raise your budget to a realistic level or compromise on what you want

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

You keep saying get a mid range graphic card but you not answering my question will it work on my PC without blowing up my PSU? Is 4GB RAM of memory enough? Is intel quad core2 2.4GHz enough to run a mid range graphic card? Answer this first.
If the answer is NO it won't work in my PC then
Its no point getting a mid range if its not going to work in my PC.

Any card you can afford will work fine in your PC.

You would have to spend over £800 to get a card that had the potential to "blow up" your PSU

u would be surprised how power some of the new cards use.

I have a sapphire R7 260x (oc) and it needs 75watt of power.

There are still shops selling pcs with quad core processors using 400watt PSUs.

When u take into account the CPU, Hard Drives, USB and so on and so on it doesnt leave much room for expansion.

looking at your pc you could do with upgrading the whole lot

I just opened my tower case.
I have win power 750 watt
Model:- EA4G-750
Is this power supply any good for gaming?

The whole computer does not need upgrading because windows 8.1 runs really good on it.

Most games will work on intel quad core 2.4GHz and 4Gb RAM

400 watt is perfectly fine for a quad core CPU and a high end graphics card. A decent quad-core CPU (non overclocked) uses a maximum 60-80w of power. A high end graphics card uses 200w of power. Hard drives, USB and so on use less than 10w put together which means your total is still barely 300w peak, assuming everything were running at max at the same time.

I have a 430w power supply which is perfectly sufficient for two quad-core processors, one of the most power hungry graphics cards on the market, a ridiculously inefficient motherboard, and ten hard drives. This 430w supply is actually rated at a peak output of 500w, and I have seen it draw 530w from the wall before the safety cut-out kicks in.

I also have a 430w power supply in a server system with a quad-core Xeon processor, twenty-six hard drives, and three server RAID controllers, which at full load, uses barely over 200w. That still leaves enough space for three of your graphics cards.

I also manage a server system at work with dual 8-core Xeon CPUs (16 cores total), 128GB RAM and six 10,000 RPM SAS hard drives. That system uses 328w at full load. Still enough overhead for your graphics card - on top of two Xeon processors 128GB RAM and 6 server hard drives on a 400w power supply.

Seriously, some of the numbers some people come up with are absurdly over-inflated.

It's even almost accurate, at least on the basics, until you start adding any drives. Then it becomes way off.

I have used that in the past, and almost got burned so now I don't touch it.

My pc will run in it's current state of a 750w psu, but that site say's I need 1.2kw unit by the time I have added in all the fans, pump and other bit's.

I use a 1Kw unit simply because it was spare from my previous build but my next build will probably only have a 850w in it.

The 8 core CPU if they went for that can use between 125 and 200watt.

qasdfdsaq 17-07-2014 21:14

Re: Suggest a graphics card for full HD gaming

Wrong again. I have 8 core CPUs that only use 95 watts, which is also the average wattage of all 8-core CPUs released this year. The maximum any current Intel 8-core CPU uses is 130 watts. There are 8 core CPUs that use as little as 12 watts (though they don't really count since they're Atoms) and standard Core i7-based Xeon 8 core CPUs that use as little as 60 watts. Again, those are maximums. Average wattage will be closer to 5 watts.
