Day Z
Anyone paying this alpha release? Pretty interested in getting it but don't really think my pc is up to snuff.
Watched quite a few youtube vids over the last day our so, my kind of game, MMO, survival, team/solo, zombies, sniping (if you get the chance) big 225sqr km open map, 1st/3rd person shooter. £20 on steam. |
Re: Day Z
£20 for an unfinished game? Fools and their money and all that

If you have ArmA 2, you can just download and play the mod for free. otherwise, just put some money in for the stand-alone DayZ alpha and help it along. To be fair, for an alpha, it's more polished than many EA releases. |
Re: Day Z
I found the ARMA 2 mod terrible to play. The lack of a jump ruined it the first time I had an encounter
|
Re: Day Z
jumping wont save you from a zombie... what were you hoping it to achieve?
|
Re: Day Z
Jumping onto a car or box then onto a wall higher ground= better vantage point and safety. Not being able to jump also means it is not realistic as I can jump and I assume you can to ;)
I do not mean I am a bunny hopper ;) on top of all that the graphics are pants |
Re: Day Z
you can do that using the 'Vault' button ('V' by default)
as for the graphics, it was started as a mod for a game released in 2009 (old in games terms). I believe it will also run on ArmA 3. |
Re: Day Z
yeah I know but it sucked
I jnow it was a mod for Arma II .Do not like Arma 3 either to many controls |
Re: Day Z
if you know you can get onto a car or box, why are you complaining you can't get onto a car or box?

Re: Day Z
sorry you feel that way. I thought my question was legit enough to ask.
And no, you are right, vault is not the same as jump. However, it does meet the requirements that you expressed concern for in your first post regarding lack of functionality. Quote:

as for being 'funny across the board', please highlight where you think I have been out of order or rude and I will explain what I posted and why. I've not had anyone say anything to me as of this point regarding my posts, nor any reds for anything. again, sorry you feel that way. |

I think what will break the bank is having to upgrade my old gaming rig with enough grunt to play at relatively high detail. From what I have seen the only real issues with the game are server lag. As for the jump/vault comment, surely anyone who plays enough should have the ability to adapt to to differing styles of gameplay, either that or mod the game to suit your style. |
Re: Day Z
does it have jump Al?
I do not play that much I am a casual gamer now. I am no FPS mug though I am a veteran ask anyone from NTHW clan are there as many keys to map as Arma? |

Re: Day Z
Go from Point A > B, loot, Go from point B > C, loot. Gather all the best equipment in the game in 20 minutes then go deathmatch.
Pretty much DayZ. I had completely forgotten Zombies were part of the game the other day. |

Re: Day Z
Question about DayZ.
Took a battering from a zombie and now my screen/character is blurred, how long do I have to wait/rest till all becomes good? Have eaten plenty, taken antibiotics but no drink (don't have none) any help appreciated. |
Re: Day Z
you'll die soon enough. without bandages, maybe a blood transfusion and a lot more red-meat food and sweet drinks.

Mind you I died a couple of times yesterday. Got suckered then shot, raped and pillaged :o: |
Re: Day Z
Been playing for 4 weeks now. My average survival time is about 2 hours.
Latest update has added more functionality to the playing area, a couple of new villages and additional items. They have upped the speed of the zombies and their aggressiveness along with their hit damage. Health deteriorates at a given rate when idle (lower) and when you are in motion (higher), if you are walking, jogging or running it's the same rate so walking instead of running to conserve energy is wasteful. |

Re: Day Z
Still playing this (anyone on here a survivor?)
Stable is up to .47 and persistent items are now on experimental. Loads of new implementations, fishing, hunting, cooking. The game seems to be heading in the right direction and is still very engaging even if there is a core set of players that just want to play PVP and KoS. PVE will be the most immersive way to play this in the end. My survival time is averaging 15 hrs or more pre character and high pop servers are the more challenging to play on. |
Re: Day Z
ooooh a DayZ thread lol
still playing the mod (don't have the standalone), damn thing is addictive at times. AI missions make it much more fun - and dangerous ;) I play on EWSG servers (both PVE) Cherno & NAPF maps. good guys, good fun, very well admin'd. They've also recently added an ARMA3 server that I *think* is PVP but I don't have ARMA3 so . . . |
Re: Day Z
This is for all potential buyers. Do not buy the standalone. There's been rumours the game has been abandoned, logged on the other day for the first time in well over 8 months and I'm also getting this impression. It's still being updated but the content and quality of updates are poor and the game has barely changed since release.
I find it shocking the mod is far superior to their flagship game so far after release. At the current rate this alpha will be going on for years. |
I get quite a lot of enjoyment from the game, yea development is slow but it is alpha. Many games developed for consoles/PC are in alpha stages for 2 to 3 years before beta and testing.
Some people want everything now and then if that happened and the "everything" looked and played crap there would be uproar. Better to play it safe, keep to the schedule/time frame that they set out from the beginning and develop a better game. Just my opinion of course. |
Re: Day Z
They raised the price pre-sale then immediately put it in the steam sales at the original price. Starting to really lose faith now.
