Interesting deal.

Smallworld have the lowest prices for Sky Sports. Sky Sports 1 or 2 is just £16 a month, whilst Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, 4 and Sky Sports News are £22 a month.

I wonder if Virgin will try to put up the prices for Smallworld customers?

Sorry, this was news just in when I posted, I was told by word of mouth.

Though I believe there has been an internal communication sent out throughout VM.

No press release as yet.

The IP address that update was posted from is all over our forum logs like a bad rash, that many of you have used it. ;)

It belongs to VM, apparently the ex-TW half of the business, but does not resolve to a specific host name the way domestic VM connections normally do, leading me to think the article was updated by a member of VM staff.

Edit ... Unless perhaps it was in use by a Virgin Mobile phone. Who knows.

Im surprised this hasnt been picked up by the wider media yet, it is certainly true but only seems to be internal news at VM and Smallworld at the moment.

It is price sensitive information and will have been announced on the relevant stock exchange. Where are Liberty listed, is it NASDAQ?

---------- Post added at 13:15 ---------- Previous post was at 13:10 ----------

NASDAQ hasn't opened yet, but the press release will appear here at some point soon, I'm sure:

If Small World was a large acquisition or divestment, it would be price sensitive However, a tiny but sensible acquisition like this is not considered price sensitive.

What could be next? Wight Fibre was once owned by the same company as Smallworld. http://www.wightfibre.com/

Possibly, but Smallworlds location and the towns it serves is what makes it more attractive.

VM has Core Nework all the way up the West Coast and into Kilmarnock so connecting the Smallworld Network to VMs will not be a problem.

There's also, so I've been told, a lot of duct that was laid that remains uncabled which VM will be able to exploit.

I don't see Wight fibre as being so appealing.

Personally, I can't see anything will be done to change the Smallworld services at this stage. Any changes would come as part of the change to VM services.

The Prime Minister is a special visitor. Respect the office even if you don't like the politician currently holding it. ;)

That said, I doubt it's him. My money's on the Bearded One.

Bloody stupid puppet.

I'm sure the marketing/communications/people team. Lot that dreamt him up (a reject that was left over after we got rid of the Virgin tv channel) thought it was a great idea.

Most people that I know have nothing but apathy towards it.

Every time I see it, I just want smash hit over the head whilst shouting.........." IT'S a PAAAPPEEEETTTTT."
