24- Live another Day

Premiere date has been listed as the 5th of May with a 2 hour premiere.

I would have watched it at some point anyway but now that they've cast Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) i'll be all over it.

Netflix has it.

I fancy a rewatch before it starts too but doubt i'll be able to get through all 8 seasons in time.

I gave up on 24 after about series 5 (whichever one they detonated a nuclear bomb in).

I stuck about 1.25 seasons of 24 (somewhere around S5 I think) but just found it getting ridiculous and hard work.

Good opener, very much more of the same but that's not a bad thing. A bit unrealistic to think people could fire guns and RPGs in the middle of London without causing the police to turn up. Plus all the Brits so far have either been yank-standard "bloody hell" chirpy cockneys or upper-class relatives of the Queen types but still, enjoying it so far. Stephen Fry has been great as expected :)

Re: 24- Live another Day

Still sounds like that bloke off of Touch tho ;)
Just watched "Jack is back" s09e00 looks promising but..........
Opening 5 mins wasn't as flowing as you would expect from 24. Sutherland looks very rusty in the choreographed fight scenes.
Small additional cut scenes looked more like padding.
Crowd shots in the market you could see some of the extras (stall holders) eyeballing the "cast members" and camera. Didn't see that in any of the first 8 seasons, maybe it's us Brits that ain't used to being in high profile tv series even if only for a fleeting moment.
Nice to see some of the old faces from earlier seasons and other appreciated tv shows.

I still don't understand how Ross McCall gets cast as a US national as his accent really is crap. That husky Bronx'ish dialect he portrays in everything he is in really is quite bad IMO.
Oh and he still says "dam it" lol.

What the hell was that '12 hours later' rubbish in the last epsiode? Have they forgotten how the show works?

cimt 15-07-2014 20:51

Re: 24- Live another Day

They said from the beginning that they'd show the most important hours. Although I wish it was more spread out rather than doing it the way that they did. That time jump was pointless and could of happened 10 minutes later, nevermind 12 hours.

alferret 16-07-2014 13:14

I have only watched 4 episodes. Whilst I am a fan of the first 8 seasons this one has been dire.

That was the last epuisode of the season too. They should have renamed the show "12: Live Half a Day"

Paul 16-07-2014 20:46

They should have stopped making them about 2 seasons ago.

It was good, not the best, but still classic Jack Bauer and I for one will be watching the next season.

How can you have a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne ? But they did it anyway.

How can you have Taggart with out Taggart? It ran for years without him.

24 can go on. Although it may not be as good.

I am getting really excited about this, I loved 24 when it was on. I hope it is just as good in the absence of Jack Bauer

The 24 franchise might not be dead yet. Deadline reports FOX is developing another reboot of the TV series.

Earlier this year, FOX launched 24: Legacy, a spinoff of the original action series. Unfortunately, the show never managed the success of its predecessor and was cancelled after just one season. The original 24 series starred Kiefer Sutherland as counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer. The drama lasted for nine seasons before ending in 2010, followed by a brief revival in 2014.
Now, FOX says they’re willing to give 24 another chance. At this summer’s TCA press conference, FOX chairman Dana Walden said the network is working with the creators of the show on another reboot:
“We are really exploring what the future, the next version of 24 might be, maybe in more anthological storytelling. … I think that partly what is exciting is, we’re opening up the possibility of it being anything where that 24-hour clock is at the most critical period of a story, so I don’t want to limit them. It can only be an action-oriented show, maybe not. It can only be an emotional thing. The opportunity is for them to think their biggest thoughts.”

FOX Entertainment chief David Madden added that the new series might not be set at the CTU:

“The same kind of ticking clock format and apply it to something else. It will have the same urgency but may not be set in the CTU, it will have same style and urgency but in a different venue.”

FOX is giving 24 another chance. Deadline reports the network is developing a new version of the TV show with a female lead.

Earlier this year, FOX launched 24: Legacy, a spinoff of the original action series. Unfortunately, the show didn’t catch on and was cancelled after just one season. The original 24 series starred Kiefer Sutherland as counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer. The drama lasted for nine seasons before ending in 2010, followed by a brief revival in 2014.

Now, FOX has given a script commitment to a new 24 reboot from Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, and Jeremy Doner. Few details about the project have been revealed, but Deadline reports the pilot “centers on a female prosecutor who uncovers a legal conspiracy and has to work against the clock to save a death row inmate facing imminent execution whom she had helped prosecute but may be innocent.”

You would think they'd have learned their lesson from the last 24 reboot. No Jack no watch.

General Maximus 04-11-2017 18:26

Re: 24- Live another Day

Yeah, and this doesnt even sound like 24 as we know it (terrorist and law enforcement stuff), it sounds more like a legal drama with a sense of urgency and it is being done in the 24 format as an added twist.

General Maximus 03-08-2018 20:54

Re: 24- Live another Day

a 24 prequel series is in the works:

Quote:

Even though FOX’s reboot series, 24: Legacy, was cancelled after one season, the network is trying again. This time around, 24 executive producers Howard Gordon, Joel Surnow, and Bob Cochran are developing a new prequel series that would explore the early life of Jack Bauer.

Little has been revealed about the spinoff series, but FOX chief Dana Walden says the network is “very excited about where the show would go.”

Will Kiefer Sutherland join FOX’s new 24 spinoff? Recently, FOX Television Group boss Gary Newman discussed the network’s plans for their Jack Bauer prequel series, Deadline reports.

“There are no discussions about whether or not he will have any kind of role. He’s aware of it, and he’d be an executive producer and is excited about the idea.”

Re: 24- Live another Day

24 fans still have a chance. Recently, FOX boss Michael Thorn spoke with Deadline about the possibility of another revival for the TV show. During this year’s summer TCA press conference, Thorn revealed FOX is still in the early stages of another 24 revival:

“There is nothing formal yet; we are still having discussions with 20th Century Fox TV and the producers on a way to come up with some other incarnation. There is a really strong desire to crack it, we are still talking about it. However we build the franchise, it has got to feel big, eventized and all the creators and producers involved have to feel really excited about that direction and that we all feel we’ve got the right script.”
Flipping get Kiefer back, he is free now Designated Survivor has been cancelled. A good amount of time has passed since the series was cancelled so we can have Jack settled down in life out in the countryside somewhere relaxing and enjoying life and there is some catastrophe and imminent threat going on in Washington and the President calls him back to help out. He is given carte blanche at CTU/FBI etc and can do things how he wants to get the job done. I would love it.

Re: 24- Live another Day

I would love a proper full length 24 season with Kiefer back that would be awesome, i don't want anything rushed like the last Game of Thrones season.
