Number Three coming up [Boris Johnson]

http://news.sky.com/story/1174637/bo...e-and-the-same

First we have a person who ripped this country into small little pieces and looked after the rich in Mrs Thatcher.
Then we Had Mrs Thatcher the second in David Cameron who is contuining the dreaded Poll Tax - which is The Bedroom Tax in Disguise.
Now we have Boris (who l voted for) who says he could be Thatcher the Third

God help us - the last person out of the UK, please smash the light out as this country won't be worth anything to return too, if he became pm.

I remember when Reagan got elected US president. I thought we would never have such a "personality" as PM. I'm not so sure now.

Clowns to the left, Jokers to the right.....

Maybe you've been living in a cave for the last 15yrs but the Poll tax was abolished and replaced with the council tax and there is no such thing as the Bedroom Tax ,there is however a housing benefit reduction for extra rooms which is proving very popular with voters .

alferret 28-11-2013 09:43

Nice to see you having another rant/moan about the Tories Arthur.
I start to get withdrawal symptoms when more than 48 hours pass without you saying something.
Obviously there is little or no excitement in your life and that you need to spend all your spare time trolling about the Tories.
Now I do agree with some of your comments but on the whole you never seem to read the story before you post it and you never seem to be able to back up any thread you start.
Maybe it would be good for you and us that you take a sabbatical from the bashing and spend that time honing your skills, come back and actually be able to take part in a debate!

Yep. Ever since he's been in charge of London it's become terrible with the rubbish piling up in the streets, the dead going unburied and everything else that conservative governments and leaders bring about... :dozey:

Yep it's truly awful down here. I'm not sure how we manage... :erm: :D

I note that there was no mention of Bliar/Brown during whose time in power the gap between rich and poor got worse IIRC. Odd that eh?

Anyway, since the state of London specifically and the nation in general worries the OP so much maybe we could all chip in for a nice one way ticket somewhere else. I'm thinking long haul, isolated, no internet access... :D

Bit bored of Boris' act tbh, have been for quite awhile, why can't we have a mayor like Toronto, he's much more amusing and not faking his bumbling.

I think Arthur enjoys being Ed Milliband's promoter.

He's not old enough to have learned that all politicians are only interested in promoting themselves, they don't care about our country, just interested in lining their pockets with "expenses", and after dinner speaking when they quit!

Whoever thinks that the Tories in this country must be living in dreamland. I always though that Boris was doing a good job for London, so l voted for him.

Its the worst decision l ever made. To me the Tories are a disgrace to this ciounry and l cannot wait till 2015 when the Tories lose.

They think only of the rich and who they can peeages too for those lovelly donation.

I think that Cameron and Osborne should go on Celebrity get me out of here, and then they can think of what the poor people have to live - nothing and beans.

Re: Number Three coming up [Boris Johnson]

Boris has been ok as Mayor. Both he and Ken Livingstone deserve a great deal of credit for the Olympics and Crossrail. Boris' new routemaster buses look very nice as well. A brilliant combination of classical London buses with a modern design. It was a good policy to introduce them: http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/london/h...00/9180067.stm

That said he is pretty immune from criticism. Some of his mistakes are the type that people would be splitting blood had it been a Labour mayor. The Emirates Sky Ride has been a disaster. A massive white elephant that cost millions. It's a slow sky lift between two places that few people would need to commute between. I believe it literally has less than 10 regular commuters. I am surprised that he has avoided attack for it. The Evening Standard was vicious towards Livingstone, they would be pilloried him for such a scheme.

Still Boris has done well and was rewarded for it.

Equality of opportunity is very important but if we recognise that most human characteristics are genetic and therefore inherited is it not sensible to assume that intelligence is also?

But intelligence and IQ are very undefined concepts, their relevance is questionable. Obviously some people are smarter than others but that doesn't have to equate to inequality between those people. Someone may be smart but not earn a lot of money and people can have low IQ but be talented in a craft which earns them an above average income.

It is quite elitist to write off people because they don't met an abstract concept of intelligence defined by themselves. If anything intelligence plays a less important role in success, better to work hard and be lucky.

I know you or Boris may not disagree with that but then I question the relevance of the initial point in the first place.

I notice that Cameron has gone to China to boost trade in this country -at the tax payers expense. I don't know why, most of the goods we get in this country come from Japan or China.

A) he is doing on the tax-payers' behalf - do you think he should pay for the trip himself?
B) it is to persuade Japan and China to buy more goods and services from us, and start up joint ventures.

Chairman Cameron announced today that China is set to buy the last of the UK businesses. He went on to say that the provinces of England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland will given large investments to bolster employment. He also stated that the wages will made equivalent to that of fellow Chinese workers.

Will the visit to China bring employment to the UK, investments in this country is already high from China - most of the goods we buy daily come from China or Japan.

All Cameron is doing is going to a country on tax payers money as a waste. He should be concentraing on the employment situation in this country. Most of the industry has gone abroad to save money - if you phone up call centres, its almost certain it will be aborad.

Its not a rant against Cameron, its a rant that say's he should be doing more for his own people than concentrating on others.

He will also probaly be talking about the aid that we give him financially. I am a down to earth sort of bloke, but l cannot stand the way he is treating the people of his own country. Bedroom tax etc Food banks. Its enough to make you want to be sick.

Believe it or not there are things that China will buy from us and a good will visit by the premier will help our exporters.

Evidently Arthur would much prefer that HMG didn't go around promoting UK PLC, selling goods abroad, attracting investment, creating jobs etc. because in that way we'd all be much better off...

YES

earlier this year our exports to china topped 1 billion per month and Jaguar/Landrover have just signed a deal worth 4.5 billion to supply 100,000 cars
UK exports to China in 2011 were £13.78 billion (including goods, services and other income e.g. remittances), up 17.6% on 2010. (Source: Office for National Statistics UK)

Still think it's a waste of time Arthur and another thing you have forgotten is that if the UK leaves the EU as many of us want (including you) then markets like China will be very important to us should any of the EU countries like Germany or France take the hump with us

Sad to say most of the unemployed workforce in this country, don't build cars or have no skills.

This is what Cameron has to do - concentrate on his own worksorce. But most the time, he is calling them lazy and benefit cheats as they won't work. Problem is the unemployment in this country is very bad - except for Xmas when employers are taking on casual staff. We will hear next that Unemployment has gone down.

I bet he still takes off three holiday at Xmas.

Part of the key here is "have no skills" and "won't work". This doesn't apply to all the unemployed but there are some that fit into either or both of these. And I think the unemployed figures are adjusted to account for seasonal variation.

On topic, I don't know if Boris would make a good PM. He is not a buffoon, just sometimes appears as one. He also takes chances, not all work out but you can't say he doesn't try things. The danger is that (like other walks of life) he gets promoted to the highest level of incompetence rather than doing what he does extremely well.

Arthur please stop making threads unless you do a bit more research then the banner headline of a red top newspaper because you just make it so easy for people to shoot you down. As i've said before occasionally you do make a good point but they are drowned out by threads like this where you've completely missed every point and just handed boxes of ammo to the people that seem to live to shoot you down. I've defended you in the past but carry on like this no one will defend you because you will not deseve it. Bit more brain and a lot less emotion would serve you well.
